I am from Ohio where I believe this 7 yr long gateway issue started

All IP addresses are 192.168 something or other. I can't reset the gateway. It's in my dad's house and they began acting very different lately. I'm not sure how to fix it. Should I order a new modem on eBay from Tennessee? It's a 3 pc set wires included.

192.168.1.254 gives access to the management console of the gateway.  Access code is on side label.
A factory reset of the gateway will be the same as a getting a refurbished replacement from Att.  Performing the reset can be done from within the GUI, or using the button on the back of the device.   Needs to be held between 10 and 15 seconds.

You cannot use anything other than what’s supplied by Att.
If your gateway is a BGW series, that’s the best you can get.  And yes, the 210 is well over 7 yrs old now.   If not, Att should have sent letters suggesting getting a supported replacement model.
