Identifying Individual Devices Listed On the Smart Home app

I have the Smart app and I see all of the devices on my network, but there are 7 "Unknown Devices".  I believe these are our iphones. How do I identify each of the unknown devices? I'd like to prioritize some of them and put pause on others at specific times.

Hi @Tarina! Thank you for reaching out to us! We understand that you're facing issue with your AT&T Smart Home Manager and few of the devices are showing up as "Unknown Devices". We hear you, and happy to assist you.

Are you using the app or web version of the Smart Home Manager? Try switching to the opposite platform and see if you're able to block the device there. This can help us determine where the problem lies.

Please try these below basic troubleshoot steps for the Smart Home Manager app:

  • Restart the app.
  • Reboot your gateway.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall the app.
  • Remove 3rd party devices, such as routers and switches. Afterward, reboot your gateway and restart the app. 3rd party devices can cause conflicts with the app.
  • For the web version, try clearing your cache and cookies or trying another browser.

Please try the about provided steps and let us know how it goes.

For further assistance we're here to assist you.

Thank you

Do you have the "Private Wi-Fi Address" feature enabled on the iPhones? If so, your iPhone is generating a "random" MAC address and it makes it hard to identify the phone.

And further to that point, your home network is trusted, so no need to use the randomizer there.

Go to each iphone. Select "Settings" and then "Wi-Fi" and click the circled "i" (for information, next to your nextwork name - SSID). Match the Wi-Fi address of each phone to the MAC address that is displayed in SHM (when you select the device in SHM).
