Whenever you connect to an Att gateway for the first time, the password needs to be entered. Has this been done and still getting authentication challenge?

Check the printed label on the gateway device to ensure you're seeing and trying to connect to correct WiFi. If you've made any changes to the gateway itself via the management console, you could always reset it to factory defaults.

Hi @DecayingLemon,
We understand that you're still unable to connect Wi-Fi to your laptop, and we're here to guide you.
We recommend that you try resetting your router to the original settings so it clears out any network congestion, you can reset by followinf few steps:
Note: Be sure to jot down your custom settings, like your static IP address if you have one, or your Wi-Fi network name (SSID). You can then change them back after the factory reset.
After the reset, You can try
Updating your Wi-Fi driver: Go to the HP support website and download the latest Wi-Fi driver for your laptop. Install the driver and restart your laptop.
Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter: Open the Windows Network Troubleshooter by right-clicking on the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar and selecting “Troubleshoot problems”. Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix the issue.
Reset your network settings: Reset your network settings by opening the Windows Settings app, selecting “Network & Internet”, clicking on “Status”, and then clicking on “Network reset”. This will reset all your network settings to their default values.
We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
