Temporarily change from 5GHz to 2.4GHz

I want to connect a smart home device that only supports the Wi-Fi network of 2.4 GHz band.  My At&T router model 5268AC is a dual-band router.  How do I temporarily change from 5GHz to 2.4GHZ and later, after the smart home device is bonded, change back to 5GHz?

Hi @Hrudner,

Thanks for reaching us.

We understand your concern with regard to band change from 5GHz to 2.4 GHz temporarily. Let's get the help you need.

You can temporarily switch your AT&T router model 5268AC from 5GHz to 2.4GHz by following the below steps:

  • Open a web browser and enter 192.168.1.254
  • Once you login with your credentials, navigate to the Wi-Fi section of your router’s settings.
  • Locate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks and give them different names and unique passwords. We recommend this option. It’s the easiest way to connect your smart home device to the 2.4GHz network and change back to 5GHz.

Also you can learn more about the Wi-Fi configuration options for the 5268AC gateway.

Let us know if this helps!

Thank you,

@Hrudner

Or simply shutoff the 5GHz radio temporarily until device is connected and then restore the radio.
