what classic view back in my SBCGlobal account

I have the free SBCGlobal email account and want to try to get rid of the advertisements on the right side of the email screen. I no longer have an AT&T account. I do have DirectTV which I pay for myself.  I have problems seeing so must keep my screen set to 115% so the ads are blocking part of the emails. When I click on the > to slide the ads away I am getting the message in order to get rid of them to make AT&T my default browser. There is no way in hades this is going to happen. So how can I go back to the older version, classic to see if this will help me to be able to read my emails.

To switch to classic, i.e., Basic, version click the gear->settings.  In the viewing mail pane select Basic for the mail version and click Save.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I CAN NOW READ MY EMAILS WITHOUT HAVING TO GO THRU ALL THAT MESS WITH THE AT&T DEFAULT BROWSER NOTICE.

NO WAY WOULD I EVER MAKE IT MY DEFAULT BROWSER

You're not the first one in these forums to complain about that "blackmail".  My usual response is just get an ad blocker extension/addon for your browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, and Safari support Ad Block Plus) or just don't use the webmail at all and use a email client app instead (e.g., Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.).  I guess from now on I'll add "classic" to the list of possible alternatives.Man Happy

By the way should you ever decide you want to go back to the "full featured" mail version then click the "Switch to the newest att.net Mail" in the upper right above the classic pane.
