Excessive spam

Yahoo mail used to be great at filtering out spam email. Several months ago the volume of spam in my inbox was out of control. It got better but now it's very bad again. I'm constantly having to delete spam from my inbox. These messages are obvious spam and I can't understand how they are bypassing AT&T's  filters. Please do something!

Anyone else having this? My son also has a Yahoo account and is having the same experience.

We understand how frustrating it can be to receive so many spam emails, conniemmsc.

Since you're using Yahoo! Mail, try Currently to see if the filtering process is better for you on the official AT&T email platform.

You can also forward spam to us at abuse@att.net, so we can investigate it further. Make sure you include the full header, so we can find out exactly where it came from.

If you need assistance with anything else, don't hesitate to reach back out.

Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you for your response.

I am already using Currently.

I am already marking the messages as spam. Are you also suggesting that I forward messages to the abuse email address you shared? These are obvious spam messages and I really don't understand why your algorithm isn't catching them.

How do I forward messages and retain the full header?

Thanks.

This is a huge problem!!!!  I send all spam emails to spam and I am using the official AT&T email with Currently.  The same spam emails keep coming back.

Hey there, we're here to assist you with reporting spam emails @conniemmsc!

Yes, you will need to forward emails to abuse@att.net. You may try copying the header of the spam email and paste it into the email you are forwarding.

Please let us know if this helps!

Hey @msfinman, let's work on the spam together.

If you haven't already, we recommend you reference our previous response for how to filter and report the email spam.

We hope this helps.

Thanks for using the AT&T Community Forums!

I've already sent five messages to the abuse email address and I'll keep sending them.

I still don't understand how your filters are not catching these. There's nothing sneaky about them. They're obvious spam. The customers shouldn't have to do AT&T's job!

I agree!   So AT&T/Yahoo is expecting the users to create filters to catch the spam and send it to the spam folder?  Why aren’t they doing that?  Then what happens when the spammers change the subject line and sender email address.  Just a game of trying to keep pace with the spammers.   That should be AT&T’s/Yahoo’s job.

I've sent numerous messages to the abuse email address. I got this response from one which makes me think that you won't even act on messages sent to that address unless they are initiated from AT&T.

Please tell me someone is working on this excessive spam problem. Something changed to cause this newer issue.

AT&T ABUSE REPORTING
Please note that we can only take action on reports that implicate
the AT&T network as a source of abuse.  As we are unable to take
any action on reports not involving AT&T's network, we recommend
that you send those reports directly to the abuse address of the
originating domain or service provider.  You can identify the
originator by reading the expanded e-mail headers.  If you need
help with reading headers, visit the following:
For any abuse report involving e-mail, it is essential that the
report include the full original expanded headers containing the
source IP address and time stamp, along with the complete unedited
subject line and message.  A report cannot be investigated without
this information.  Please send one report at a time, as combining
multiple reports only detracts from our ability to address abuse
issues.
For abuse reports involving security incidents, please include
relevant log excerpts of the incident directly in the body of your
message.  Logs must be in plain text or ASCII format and include
the time zone, source IP address, destination IP, timestamps, and
port numbers.

I've been telling people for months that it's a waste of time to send the spam to those clowns and this proves why nothing even comes of that.

Thanks for posting their blow-off letter.

Hey you want to know the truth people? AT&T is doing this intentionally - yes intentionally selling your name and email addresses to spammers - why? 1. Because they make more money doing this. 2. Because they would really like to get RID of alot of the non-money making bellsouth and others email addresses and what better way than to spam you to death. make sense?
