How do I forward my sbcglobal.net emails to another address?

My legacy email address is @sbcglobal.net with no issues reading the email. How do I forward those emails to another address, such as gmail.com or another address that is not sbcglobal.net or currently.com?

Thanks

Thomas

Hi @ThosRM, We understand that you're trying to enable email forwarding to an external email, let's get the help you need.

You can turn on email forwarding in Settings with these simple steps:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click More Settings.
  3. Click Mailboxes.
  4. Click the primary mailbox account.
  5. Under Forwarding, enter the Forwarding Address.
  6. Click Verify.
  7. Log in to your forwarding address and follow the instructions sent there.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks, but sorry that option is not available according to the website. To forward email it is necessary to upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus for AT&T. I will not upgrade because it seems to me that the relationship of Yahoo, Currently.com and AT&T legacy email is too convoluted.

Hi @ThosRM,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand where you're coming from, and we're here to guide you.

To avail the features, you will have to upgrade to Yahoo Mail plus for AT&T. Please go through our article about the Yahoo Mail Plus features and benefits.

Advice offered isn't a reasonable solution for me. I will not upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus; I want a clean solution , such as mail forwarding at sbcglobal.net.

I have the same desire (to be able to forward mail from my sbcglobal.net address to an external e-mail).  I did upgrade to Yahoo Mail Plus and followed the steps above.  I received a verification email in my external email but when I click on the "verify email" link in that verification email I end up in an AT&T error message that says:  "Something's gone wrong.  We may be having trouble with your connection. Connecting your device to Wi-Fi could help fix the issue or try again later.  If you were using an app, close this page. Otherwise, start over."  I tried this same step in several different browers, etc., but always the same result.  I raised this with AT&T support and was told I need to contact Yahoo support.  I contacted Yahoo support and was told that I need to talk to AT&T support.

This is entirely unacceptable.  As far as I understand, the sbcglobal.net domain is maintained in AT&T servers, and the error message I'm getting is coming from AT&T.  So even if Yahoo Mail Plus is a Yahoo service, in my view, AT&T should fix this.

Some online research suggests to me that a number of other people are having the same issue.  AT&T may not care about legacy email domains that were originally set up by regional telephone companies but they risk turning off future customers for their other products.

Yeah, unfortunately, all ATThelp is going to do here is tell you to contact Yahoo or AT&T directly via one of the methods in a Contact Us page (which you can reach via the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page).

You can use a service such as G-mail that will log on to your sbcglobal.net mailbox and pull your mail.  Gmail limits it to a period of time; it's intended for a transition from the sbcglobal.net mailbox to a gmail one.  Other services may do the same without a transition limit.  The finger pointing between AT&T support and Yahoo support on e-mail is frustrating and what little help we can provide on the forums is going away.
