If I cancel my att internet service, can I still maintain my sbcglobal.net email accounts and sub accounts

Can I manage/change passwords for sbcglobal.net email accounts and sub accounts if I cancel my internet service with AT&T? I use the Yahoo app on my iphone and was wondering if I could change passwords on the app once I cancel my AT&T service.

Hi @bingham4515,

Certainly! If you decide to cancel your AT&T email service, you can still manage your email and change your password. Here’s how:

  1. Reset Your AT&T Mail Password:
    • If you forget your AT&T Mail password or want to change it for security reasons, follow these steps:
      • Go to the .
      • If you know your password, sign in to your email using your current password.
      • If you don’t know your password, reset it by entering your user ID and the last name associated with your ID. Choose your verification method and follow the prompts to set a new password.
  2. Manage Subaccounts:
    • If you have subaccounts associated with your main AT&T email, you can manage them as well:
      • Sign in to your AT&T account.
      • Scroll to “Email account” and choose “Manage email.”
      • Select “Manage subaccount” and follow the instructions to add, modify, or delete subaccounts.
  3. Canceling Your AT&T Email Account:
    • If you decide to cancel your AT&T email account, follow these steps:
      • Go to your AT&T Profile.
      • Select “Contact info” and then choose the “Email” tab.
      • Under “Free AT&T email account,” select “Manage.”
      • Next to your Member ID, select “Delete Account” and confirm the deletion.

Remember that your AT&T user ID password is the same for both your email and myAT&T account. So, if you change your AT&T Mail password, your AT&T user ID password will also change. Feel free to manage your email and subaccounts even if you decide to cancel your service!

Hi @bingham4515!

Thank you for reaching out to us. We hear you, and are happy to assist you.

Your account number is a 9-digit number which should be associated with your U-verse account.  Your pin is a 4-digit number that was created when you originally created the account.  Have you never talked to billing or even tech support where they asked you for this information to identify you?  The account number should be on your bill.  The pin you are expected to "know".  I assume it was on the original paper work.  How does support or billing or whatever identify you are you now when you call them?  If it's not an account number and pin, then just make sure you save that information.

Yes, you can change your password through your myAT&T.  You certainly have to do that to change your security questions and contact information (address, recovery email).  But you can change your password without logging in their by using Forgot ID/Password. It will accept your security questions, or recovery email address, or a snail mail address to send a temporary password. I don't know if you can get into your myAT&T after no longer being a paying customer. This is why I recommended recording your questions and answers now while you still can since IMO that the easiest to use with Forgot ID/Password.  As for a recovery email address that should always be set to some other email address even when you are a customer.  I cannot understand why people make it the same as the email address they may have to use to recover sometime in the future.

Let us know how it goes.

I didn't forgot my password and I know my account number and pin. I think you misunderstood my question. My question is..if I discontinue service with AT&T can I still manage (change passwords) my email accounts and sub accounts in the yahoo app.

Hi @bingham4515,

Apologies, that I misunderstood your concern.

We are sorry to see you go. Since you have a sbcglobal.net email address you have been us for such a long time.

AT&T offers before a paid subscriber option and free subscriber option, when it comes to email. As you have stated, you are canceling your Internet, so you are already a paid subscriber. Now you want to be switched to the free subscriber option. That is not a problem. You can keep your email address.

The answer to your question about email forwarding to another account, you can do that, but you can only forward the individual emails and not the inbox as a whole.

Thank you for posting on the AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you!! I'm not leaving yet, I was just inquiring about my email if I did leave. I didn't ask about email forwarding. I asked if I could still manage my email and change my password for my main email and all sub accounts if I do decide to cancel.
