Locked out of bellsouth.net email

I'm locked out of my bellsouth.net email address. I can't remember the password and apparently none of the responses for my security questions are correct. I've still got access to my emails on my iPhone though. When trying to reset my password, it always defaults to answering security questions. It doesn't give me the option to get a temporary password. I've tried regaining access for months. Is there anything I can do?

I'm not a current customer so I don't think I can even contact AT&T.

8 days and I still can not find a way to access my bellsouth.net email. After a dozen long hold phone calls to no one who could help or who would take responsibility for helping me, they told me I had to go to an At&t store, which I did and pretty much got laughed out of the Jupiter Fl. store, he said we are all franchises and cant help??? Im so confused and frustrated now, If I have to pay a tech. I will, I have some real problems now because of missing emails, please help guide me as no one else has been able to.

We understand how important emails are and we're happy to help, @busted39.

We recommend resetting your password to resync your account. To reset your password:

  1. Go to Myatt.
  2. Select Forgot password.
  3. Fill out the password info.
  4. Choose security questions or temporary password and follow the prompts.
  5. If you choose a temporary password, we’ll let you know where we sent it.
  6. Create your new password.

If that does not help, let us know:

  1. What happens when you try to log in?(Wrong password, Locked due to too many log in attempts).
  2. Are you getting an error message or error code?(This will tell us what the issue is).

We will be looking forward to your reply. (We recommend opening a new post because this is a 3 year post and can get closed).

Not sure where to start a new post on this forum,   I already created a new password with a little difficulty but managed. When I try to log on on my laptop or Ipad it ask for email address, I put it in, it ask if I am a robot, I answer no, it then says its sending a code to my email which I have seconds to access to an email I can not get into. My android opens the app but no new emails for over a week and pretends to let me create and send an email but goes nowhere...

Thank you for the update, @Grimm.

Due to improved security of the AT&T mail, you will need to create a secure mail key to access your email through an email app or mobile device.

If that does not work, let’s meet in a Direct Message to further look into your email (it’s the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

I'm moving this whole thread to the Email forum.

@BlazeDN    Now that you're in the right forum, take a look at the list of posts here and you'll see many hundreds of others with the exact same issue.  Check out a few and you'll see there's no fix at this point and AT&T's "workaround".

Hello,

I am locked out of my bellsouth email. Tonight I've spent hours between chat and 800-288-2020 to get access to my emails to no avail. I've had this account for 20 years and the password has been saved forever. Somehow, my browser forgot it, so it's prompting me to reset password. Unfortunately, I can't get through the security questions because- like the account- those are 20 years old, too, and the standard answers I use for them are not working. Shockingly, the rep I talked to tonight basically said they can't really help me because I don't have personal AT&T service!?! I do a ton of business with AT&T, so the fact I'm not personally tied to it, and that's now translating to holding my emails hostage until I do sign up for service again is pretty despicable. Can someone please help me access my emails?

@JennyMc

I think what they're saying is that the database that's got your info and is connected to that email address doesn't have the required info to authenticate you as the rightful owner.  The fact that your security questions don't match what you think they should be is common, like the database scrambled up other people's info with yours.  One forum member said his secret questions were like city your spouse was born in when he's single and never had a spouse.

You can try working with someone from the Office of the President at AT&T.  They seem to be able to help.  You need to file a FCC complaint which is immediately forwarded to that dept at AT&T.

Fill out the form HERE.

Once the OoP people get the notice they should respond to it within 24 hrs (sometimes even on weekends) and they may be able to get things done. Once you submit, make sure you're ready to get a call from a number that isn't familiar.  If you miss it your chances of calling back and getting a successful result goes down.

Good luck!
