my secure key was cancelled!
I use Thunderbird to access my AT&T/Yahoo e-mail, and it requires a "secure key" (16 alphameric characters) to access the inbound and outbound server. I first got that key seven years ago,and it has worked flawlessly since. But yesterday, suddenly none of it worked. The key/password wasn't being identified. I had to get a new secure key/password, and enter that in to my e-mail client. After that, it all worked fine. What in the world happened? I got no notification that the key was going to expire.

As of January 2023, AT&T secure mail keys do not expire. However, if an account is blocked or locked, AT&T will delete the secure mail key for safety reasons. In this case, a new secure mail key will need to be created for each AT&T Mail account.

Thank you. I sure never locked the account, and I don't use it frequently, and certainly not to send spam. So not at all clear why it would have been blocked. I have to assume that this was just a screwup somewhere.

Yes, but I'm hoping that isn't a regular occurrence! This system has been very reliable for a long time, so this was a big surprise.
