Subaccount is not listed anymore and MFA not sending text to phone

My husband's email is a subaccount and I'm the primary account holder.  He was last able to check his email on Monday, 6/3/2024, and since then has not been able to access his mailbox. In a browser, he is able to enter his password and MFA says it's sending a text to his phone (last 5 digits appear correctly) but nothing comes through to his phone.  I can text his phone so that's working fine.

I logged into AT&T and checked my profile and it shows there are 0 sub accounts.  Anyone have ideas what is going on or how we can recover access to his mailbox?

Update:  After I contacted AT&T and they referred me to an email support phone line and before I was able to call, it started working again.  It still no longer shows up as a sub-account but doesn't really matter if he can get to his email and I'm guessing that's an obsolete thing.
