Trying to Reset Password - AT&T Doesn't have account details

When I try to reset my password and type in my email address and last name I get the following message.

Hmm… we can’t reset your password

We don’t have the account details needed to complete your request.

We can help you with resetting your email password, cvitori.

 

We can check our system to see if your email account has any password recovery options set up. Usually the "We don’t have the account details needed to complete your request" message means that there's no recovery email or phone number on your account, but we can check that for you.

To prevent errors like this in the future, be sure to set up text messages for password resets and update your security questions and answers.

 

Here are the steps to change your security questions and answers:

  1. Go to your myAT&T Profile. Sign in, if asked.
  2. Scroll to Sign-in info and select Change your security questions.
  3. Complete and save your security questions and answers.

I am not an ATT customer anymore but I can't log into my SBCGLOBAL.net mail.  I don't know my password and when I try to reset it, I get an error saying We don't have the details needed to restore account access.  How can I reset my password if I don't have an ATT account?
