Unable to loin to email or reset password

I see several people have the same issue as I. So what's up with email? Long time account, 25+ years, bellsouth.net address. Says bad password. I went to reset and it said (new) password might be compromised.  Chose another new password. It allowed to click continue, but then just hung and spun forever.

The AT&T email servers (at least inbound.att.net) appear to be having a problem (PC and phone mail apps will open up a connection but the server fails to respond after that) but try telling AT&T that and you get the type of response like that above.

If you need to read your mail you will have to use the web interface for mail.yahoo.com until someone figures out their POP mail servers are not working properly.

Well, it wouldn't let me create an account without my email to verify. Which, isn't working. But then I got the verification email and confirmed the forum account. (Still the same old password). But I immediately tried to send (and retrieve emails), but they do not work. (Edited per community guidelines)?

Hi @emailloginissue! We completely understand your concern regarding login and resetting your email password, and would like to help. Let's get the assistance you require.

Check for browser issues

  • Open AT&T Mail in a different web browser. For example, if you normally use Google Chrome®, try Firefox®.
  • Verify that your browser accepts cookies. If so, clear your cookies and cache. You’ll find this info in your browser's Preferences, Settings, or Options menu.
  • Enable JavaScript, and make sure it’s up to date. You’ll find it in your browser’s Settings or Options menu.
  • Disable browser tools or add-ons to see if they’re causing issues with email access.
  • Enable Adobe Flash Player and make sure it’s updated.
  • Check the settings of your firewall, antivirus programs, and anti-spyware software. They can cause a conflict with email programs and web browsers. Disable them one at a time and try to access your email. Don't forget to turn them back on once you know they aren’t causing the problem.

Your account may have been hacked, phished, or is at risk. For your protection, your account was locked. To keep your details safe, you should reset your password.

  1. Go to reset your password.
  2. Enter your user ID and the last name associated with your ID.
  3. Choose your verification method and follow the prompts.
  4. Enter and confirm your new password.

Yes, after much work with ATT support, multiple security questions I set up 25 years ago and was very lucky to recall, resetting account with temp code, resetting with new pass, etc., etc. It would still not let me login to email (web). And he said it was probably a backend issue. And then just now it starts working (at least for the moment) and I got all the emails from ATT, forum, and my test emails from other accounts. They really should not tell you it's your issue and you need to reset password (which didn't work) and make me waste 1.5 hours and get on the phone with ATT support and then they fix the backend. Hope it stays fixed. I'm in IT and I understand issues occasionally. But don't tell me it is my fault and make me jump through a bunch of hoops and reset my password and waste 1.5 hours trying everything to fix whatever "My" problem is and then admit it is your fault.

Yep. The POP server I use is showing the same intermittant problem. So on most attempts it fails and then, so one thinks things are working, the POP server works from my PC and my phone. Then the POP server has the problem again with my Thunderbird email client reporting "[SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later" and my phone just waiting for a response.
