If you know your password follow this steps

For security reasons, we suggest you change your password regularly. You can do this on myAT&T.

We're sorry to hear that you’re having trouble configuring your Apple Mail account after updating your AT&T account password. We're here to help you @mcmick.

Reset your Mail preferences. This will remove all your account settings and other customizations, so you will need to log in to all your accounts and set them up one by one all over again.

If resetting your Mail preferences doesn’t work, you might want to try generating an App Password with Google and using that password to log in to your Gmail account in Mail. Here’s how to generate an App Password:

Go to your Google Account.
Select “Security”.
Under “Signing in to Google”, select “App passwords”. You may need to sign in again.
Follow the instructions to generate a new App Password.
Use the App Password to log in to your Gmail account in Mail.

The Mail app does work with iCloud mail.

Please feel free to reach out to us, if you have any further questions/concerns.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Hi Susan,

The problem came about when I logged into AT&T to update my credit card info for paperless billing. For some reason, I needed to change my password.

My email is an sbcglobal.net address. When I log into the Apple mail account and submit my password, I am being asked 2 times to enter the PW. After the 2nd time, I receive a message that the authentication failed.

This is frustrating. Before I changed my PW, everything was humming along fine.

Thanks for any help.
