Hello@chrispa47, thanks for reaching out to us again. Let's get the help you need.

We recomend that you go through the steps that are mentioned below:

  1. Open your email account and navigate to the folder list.
  2. Select the subfolders you want to merge.
  3. Right-click on the selected subfolders and choose “Move to Folder”.
  4. In the “Move to Folder” dialog box, select the destination folder where you want to move the subfolders.
  5. Click “OK” to move the subfolders to the destination folder.

I appreciate your help and had thought to try this myself.  The only problem is that both folder lists are titled "Inbox " so I will be asking for the subfolders to be merged from the same named folder into the original same named destination folder.    I am hesitant to try this as I do not want to lose my original files .

Hi there, @chrispa47!

Thank you for writing us! We hear you and let's get the help you need.

When merging two folders with the same name, you won’t lose any data.

If both folders contain files with identical names, the operating system (OS) will prompt you to decide what to do. You’ll have these options:

  • Replace: Replace the file in the destination folder with the one from the source folder.
  • Don’t Copy: Skip copying the file.
  • Keep Both: Preserve both files in the new destination.

Note: Keep in mind that Windows checks only the file names, not their contents. So, if you have two files with the same name but different content, be cautious. Remember, merging won’t cause data loss, but always double-check before making decisions!

We always recommend that you have different folder names just to be on the safer side.

If we can be anymore help, please let us know.

Happy to assist!

Both inboxes contain different subfolders. It seems that somehow the original inbox has been split into two inboxes.  The first inbox goes down to "h" folders and the second starts at "j" subfolders.  However, even after deleting or archiving sub folders from my Inbox I am still unable to move any folders from the "j" section into the original Inbox.

Hello @chrispa47!

We understand that you've two subfolders for your inbox, and you're trying to merge these two into one folder without losing the data. We hear you, and happy to assist you.

Please check if you have two different email account merged together or if there is any secondary email account connected to your primary email account.

Also, let us know the below following detail:

  1. What happened when you tried moving the folder.
  2. Let us know if you're using any email client application to access your email.

Thank you,

NateD

Hi, As far as I can tell I do not have two different email account merged together or have any secondary email account connected to my primary email account.

  1. What happened when you tried moving the folder
    • A. If I try to move a folder absolutely nothing happens.
  2. Let us know if you're using any email client application to access your email.
    • A. Not sure exactly what you are asking by client application.  I am accessing my AT&T email via Yahoo.

I appreciate the help you have provided but given time wasted and as frustrating as this is, I will just continue working with the sub folders as they are.

When I click on yours "contact us page" I receive an error message and am now running in circles in the ATT web site trying to find a live online chat or email to discuss this issue.  Once again this is taking far too long to rectify this issue.
