ATT email

For last the few weeks my ATT email in Mac mail no longer works consistently when using my 2012 iMac with Catalina iOs.  I have created the encrypted password key which will work for a few days until I can no longer send a simple email with Mac mail.  It will function for a few days if I delete the account and then add the account with the secure password key.  My ATT email works on my other devices (all newer) using Mac mail without issue and using the normal unencrypted password.  Is ATT email incompatible with Mac mail and Catalina?  I have reached the end of updates for Catalina on my iMac.
