Duplicate Folders

I moved from a legacy bellsouth.net POP3 email account to an IMAP account several years ago and after multiple repairs, etc by Microsoft for Outlook, now have multiple folders with the same name (at least 3 Inbox folders with two have subfolders with the same names on them). As I understand how IMAP works, my ATT/Yahoo webmail is what syncs with my Outlook.  If I try to combine the Inbox folders, it appears it the account I move becomes a subfolder of the Inbox I moved the folder into.

The other issue I now have is when Microsoft set up a new profile for my bellsouth.net account, I now have over 8,000 unread email that I had originally moved to trash without  reading them.  Is there a way to keep the unread email that was originally moved from my inbox to trash without the new profile downloading and syncing the trashed email as unread email in my inbox in my new profile?

I am seeing multiple inbox folders and subfolders under the inbox for my bellsouth.net account on the Yahoo Mail app on my iPhone and on my bellsouth.net account on the Apple Mail app.  The duplicate folders is not showing on my bellsouth.net account in the ATT webmail.

I deleted the Yahoo Mail app on my iphone and reinstalled it, thinking a new install might help, but the Apple App store already had my info stored and reinstalling it did not change anything.

With regard to force stopping the app, can you share information on how to do that as I am not familiar with that process.

I already have my bellsouth.net account set up on the following:

Outlook Windows 10 desktop

Outlook MacBook

Yahoo Mail App iPhone

Apple Mail App iPhone

As noted, the issue with duplicate folders showing up is on the Yahoo Mail App on my iPhone, and on the Apple Mail App on my iPhone.

I am not seeing the duplication in Outlook on my Windows 10 desktop or Outlook on my MacBook or on the ATT webmail site.

It is baffling because as an IMAP account set up for my bellsouth.net account with the server settings as recommended, I know the Outlook and iPhone apps should be mirror image of my ATT webmail email account, but strangely it is not.
