email to self, addressee unknown/gmail emails

I have an @sbcglobal.net email address. 

I have two issues:

- I'm having trouble getting gmail emails. All of a sudden, I either don't get them, or I get them at least four hours later. I'm getting multiple other emails from many different people and companies as normal, which do not seem to be delayed.

- When I send myself an email, which I have recently done as a test, I get a Failure Notice; Addressee Unknown.

This seems to be happening since I created a gmail account a few days ago for someone else. The gmail account is not in my name, however my email is listed as a recovery email. I have searched the internet and can't find anything specific to my trouble. My internet connection is good. There are no filters set, or anything blocked. I'm so puzzled.  Does any of this make sense? I'm so frustrated!
