Is there a way to make hyperlinks in emails to that I send to myself always open when I click on them with my mouse?

Hi AT&T Community,

I have a question about hyperlinks not working with a simple click of my mouse in a very limited set of emails -- only the links contained in emails that I send to myself.  Hyperlinks in all other emails that I receive work fine when I check my webmail.

If I forward an email that I addressed to myself to a friend, that person can open the hyperlink contained in it with a simple click of a mouse.  And if I pull up the same email that I sent to myself on my iPhone (which uses the Yahoo! mail app), the hyperlink also opens in that app with no problem.

Is there a default setting that I can change (or request that AT&T customer support change) so that hyperlinks in emails that I send to myself always respond to a click of my mouse?

AT&T customer support recommended I highlight these links and open them in a new tab on the browser in order to visit them again.  That does work, but I consider that an inconvenient work around -- I'd like these links to open with a click of my mouse.

I'm using Windows 10 and the browser Edge on my desktop.  I am trying to set up New Outlook for Windows as my email client on desktop PC, and their tech support tells me that this matter is not something they can fix for me.  I've tried tips that I've seen here and online, such as clearing my cache and cookies, enabling Java script, deactivating browser extensions, and trying another web browser, all to no avail.

If there are Community Members with tips or advice, or links to online resources about this matter, I would really appreciate you sharing them.  Thank you!

Hi kcguy,

Let's get the help you needed.

Make sure your email app is not blocking links or external content for privacy or security reasons. You might see a message at the top of your email that says something like "Pictures and links in this message have been blocked for privacy. Show content." If so, click on the Show Content link to enable the links in your email.

Check if your browser is set as the default app for opening links. Sometimes, your email app might try to open links with another app that is not compatible or not installed on your device. To change the default app for opening links, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose default apps by protocol, and select your browser for the protocols you want.

If none of the above solutions work, you can try copying and pasting the link into your browser manually. To do this, right-click on the link in your email and select Copy Link Address. Then, open a new tab in your browser and paste the link into the address bar.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,

Thank you, Justin, for your explanations and thoughtful advice, which I've tried to follow.  I appreciate all your assistance.

When I'm at my AT&T webmail screen, I find that the hyperlinks within the emails that I have sent to myself are still inactive.

I think using Control+C to highlight these links and then using Control+V in a new tab is the method that I will need to use to open them.

Thank you again for your help.
