Suspended email account

Two months ago some phishing emails were sent out by a hacker using my contacts in an email account I've had for over thirty years. As friends started notifying me of this, I tried to change my password for the account which included the address of @bellsouth.net. Somehow the password change procedure failed to work and I was locked out of the account. I have been trying for the last two months to find help from AT&T since my home page is currently.att.yahoo. The only phone number that I have been given was 800 288-2020 When I've called I am given customer support for Direct TV. They have tried to help numerous times, but hav advised the account has been suspended and referred me to Yahoo. Yahoo assures me that they have no access to my email account and it is up to AT&T. Three times over the past two months AT&T has had me complete forms and I would receive a call. No call has been received. So now after all my accounts and banks etc have notified me that my email is no longer receiving their notifications I have set up a new email at @att.net but now I cand find out if I am allowed to transfer contact information and old saved emails from the old account to the new account. Anyone that knows how to contact a real customer support for AT&T email account.

Hi there, dpilgreen_5. We understand that your bellsouth email address has been suspended. That is frustrating to hear. We can look at that together. 

 

In order for us to an account deep dive, we will need to move this conversation to the AT&T Direct Message. Did you get a response on this?  We have the same issue and run around from At&t for days. Please let us know how it was resolved / agent name / phone number / etc.

After six months, no answers. I can't find out how to even have the account deleted. Every time I try to login and change password, I ge message, "not found on accelerator" ATT does not seem to have a clue nor does Yahoo
