ATT 1070 One-Touch Storage save numbers with extension

I want to add some numbers to my AT&T 1070 small business line one touch storage list that have an extension. I've been referencing the manual and have entered the number and have tried the pause, tone, flash, # and * between the number and extension and it still just dials the main line. I want it to dial with the extension so I don't have to pull up my list or emails to find the extensions of the people I'm trying to reach. The pause was my best bet, but it just pauses in the actual dialing, not after the dial. Is it possible to save a number to the on-touch storage that includes and properly dials with an extension?

You can insert a pause, each pause is included in your digit number count and each one is two seconds. So, you'd have to allow the time for the auto attendant to answer and until you hear hello, if it's 10 seconds that would be 5 pauses. I'm betting you're going to go over your 24 digit limit. Lets say you dial a 10 digit number and from the time you complete dialing until the auto attendant answers is 12 seconds, which I bet it's longer, so you put in the 6 pauses that's 16 digits, than a 4 digit extension number that's 20 and you're getting very close to your 24 digit limit. Throw in the 1 if it's a long distance number now you only have 3 digits left. You'll know more when you time, several times, how long from the time you complete dialing to the "hello" to start dialing the ext number. Good luck.

If whatever number you're calling has a recording you have to go through before dialing an extension you're not going to be able to do it. Most auto attendants go through, hours of operation or something prior to saying "If you know your parties extension dial it now". Many auto attendants won't let you dial the extension until you're given the prompt to do so.

The auto attendant on the main line for these extensions I want to include can be interrupted as soon as the call goes through, so I wouldn't need to wait to wait to be prompted. I usually dial the extension as soon as it starts to say "hello."

In case that doesn't matter and for clarification - would I not be able to include an extension if I have to wait for the call to connect first before dialing the extension? There's not an option or special character I can put in after the main lien to have it pause to connect and then finish the extension dial?

Aha, I didn't realize including more pauses would give it time to auto dial! Fortunately these are 2-digit extensions, and 5 pauses was enough for it to get to the auto responder before dialing the extension. I still have plenty of wiggle room.

Thank you for your assistance! I'm successfully able to add the numbers with the extensions to my on-touch speed dial. :)
