Caller ID Announce stopped working

My BL102-4 phone set is brand new - 3 weeks old.  The Caller ID Announce worked for about 2 weeks and then stopped working. I checked to be sure it is turned on and it is. I don't know what to try next.

Are you hearing other calls, like call screening over the speaker? It only works in English so make sure you haven't selected another language. Volume or mute, make sure you don't have volume off or mute on. Something set in smart call blocker. If none of these apply you may have a bad base unit.

I have the exact same problem: It worked fine for about two weeks, then it just stopped announcing. The Smart Call Block is OFF; the Caller ID (free in my area) is ON and displays, and worked just fine with our previous (other mfr) system, but the new ATT system stopped announcing the Caller ID over the speaker; the volume is ON; we have NO numbers in the block/allow lists; all incoming calls that aren't picked-up by us are recorded.

In other words, as far as I can tell, everything is set correctly, but, it won't announce the Caller ID. The manual does not mention this in the troubleshooting guide, and a web search only finds the issue with no solutions; only guesses (I can't even find an ATT page on which to register the unit!).

If you can't give a definitive resolution, then can you tell me how to reset the entire phone system, which is not in the manual (or, to be fair, that I can find, easily, in the table of contents or index).

Can you answer the questions that were asked the topic starter? The registration process is usually on the first or second page of the manual. I your phone the same as the original posters?

1) If I could have answered the initial question, I would have. I added my two-cents to show that the originator is not alone with his/her issue.

2) There is no information anywhere in the entire user manual on how to register the unit with ATT. There is no registration card (which, technically speaking, is not required in the USA, although most mfrs include it and/or give a registration web page). There is only a page to write down the s/n and other info, which, of course, does nothing for officially registering the product. Feel free to view the manual online, and correct me, if I'm wrong: https://att.vtp-media.com/products/BL/BL102-X/BL102-X_CIB_i4.0_20210621.pdf

You can't answer if you can hear the caller over the speaker when they are leaving a message?

The warranty information starts on page 106 of the manual, which tells you to retain your receipt and the first page gives you a place to enter your phones information. I don't see a formal registration process unless it's on their website.

Does the caller id information still appear in the display?

(I'm asking to try to separate is it an issue where the phone doesn't get the caller ID information and so cannot speak it, or the phone is getting it, but still isn't speaking it).

The registration process he speaks of is documented in that manual, the index says page 86.  It pairs the handset with the base.  If the handset is working, then that's likely not the issue.

Spoom2: "You can't answer if you can hear the caller over the speaker when they are leaving a message?" is not the issue.

JefferMC: (1) Yes, the caller ID appears on the display, usually on or after the 2nd ring. (2) How to register the consumer-purchased system - - having nothing to do with registering the handsets - - is undocumented in the manual, and I cannot find how to do so on any ATT web page or via a web search. Again, it is, technically, unnecessary to do so in the USA, but, most mfrs like having that info recorded, so that they know when the unit was bought (i.e., to limit the warranty), as well as to inform consumers of any recalls, updates, etc.

@skaizun It does have to do with the issue, I'm trying to determine if the speaker is functioning. I pretty much give up. Too much attitude for my blood.

The best "solution" I found for the Caller ID not announcing was to set the number of rings to '6' (originally, I had it set to '4' rings). Now, instead of voicing the Caller ID on the 2nd ring, as it used to, it now does so on the 4th ring, which, for all intents and purposes, is completely useless (i.e., by the time of the 4th ring, I have already looked at the display, which shows the Caller ID on or after the 2nd ring). Our previous phone system (different manufacturer) displayed and announced right after the 2nd ring.
