Cannot Add to Contact List or Edit Contacts -- error code 305

Unable to add contacts to the contact list.  Unable to edit contacts.

This issue has been reported multiple times over the last 6 months on this forum.    Here are three threads in this forum with the exact same issue:  65e1e9c7f3b52a1f151b4312 -- 65bd4f05abeda37c5afe3d4f -- 658dd8b574e6ff44331dd8f9.  There are more.  Here is the best description of the issue:

===================

This has nothing to do with MY CONTACT INFO.  This has to do with trying to enter a new contact or edit an existing contact  in my ADDRESS BOOK.

From my account login page, I can click on "Manage Home Phone"  that takes me to a "My Phone" Page.  On the right side of the page, I click on "Manage Phone Features"  that takes me to a "My Phone" page that says I have one voicemail account.  I click the button then click on "continue".  That takes me to "Phone Features" page.  Then I click on Contacts on the left side of that page. that takes me to the "Manage Conacts" page.  From there, when I try to enter a new contact or edit an existing contact in my ADDRESS BOOK, I get  the

"An error has occurred in Address Book, please try again. (code 305)" message.

===================

How much longer before this issue is corrected?  Thanks

You don't need to post multiple times for the same issue. None of your links give me anything. If you're using AT&T's normal channels to get this corrected and for whatever reason, AT&T is not getting it fixed file an FCC report. I can't figure out why anyone would want a contact list on a website for phone contacts anyway when most all phones have their own directory and are much more user friendly.

This issue has existing for at least 6-8 months (verified) and probably longer.  So is the FCC the best way to get attention to a broken AT&T feature?  If you can't figure out why a broken feature might be needed by customers does not mean it is a non-issue.  Assuming that everyone has a cell phone is counter productive.  Not everyone uses a cell phone.  AT&T sells internet with digital phone service (and also land lines).  The contact list is useful for many phone features.

I see that AT&T only responds one time to each thread and usually in the second post.  Will your response (above) mean that an AT&T representative will not respond to this thread?

Good grief, I didn't say everyone has a cell phone and most all cordless phones systems as well as corded have come with directories for a good many years. All I stated with all the places for directories, on phones (cell and home) PC's, tablets and laptops I just can't see the need for another one, that just my opinion. As far as the FCC goes, those complaints go to the office of the president and are assigned to a senior staff member. For all I know AT&T's data may have shown there was very little use of the feature and didn't feel the need of maintaining the data base was worth it. If it's been going on as long as you say there very possibly could have already been a complaint filed so the answer might already be there. If they have removed the ability they should state so and remove the option from the web page. Whether or not a AT&T customer rep responds has nothing to do with the position of the post.

I have a need for the AT&T contact list....an advertised feature....and a feature with configuration settings that are broken (the 305 error).  Thank

you for speaking your opinion (twice now) that you don't see the need for AT&Ts digital phone service contact list.  Furthermore, thank you for adding possible justifications for your opinion:  essentially that repairing the contact list feature may not be worth the time and money.  Got it.

I could explain why an internal AT&T contact list is helpful for interactions with other features, but you don't use it so what difference would it make.  Please continue to use the tools that you use.  Let us try to fix the tools we use.  Customers who want the contact list error (305) fixed understand your opinionyou don't need this feature fixed.  You have been heard.  With greatest respect, please move on.  You are not helping.

I am in contact with the office of the president (3-digit access code)....for now, they are indecisive of a path forward.  I did not file an FCC complaint.  We'll see where this goes.

I've given you a valid option twice. The fact that I don't need it or use it is irrelevant, you want it to work. So, either file the FCC complaint or not the choice is yours.

Thank you again.  We'll take it from here.
