cordless CL82413 call waiting
I have a cable digital service with fiber optics.
When I am on a call I get a beep and it shows me the caller id
for another call coming in.. It wont let me press the flash button
to take the call? Anyone know what the issue is and how it can be
fixed? Thanks

i want to thank everyone. The engineer at cable noticed something with the fiber optics.
He made a change and now it is working the way it is suppose to with the flash and call waiting.
I am so thrilled. So not going to their voicemail unless it stops working which I am hopeful it won't.
They are all new to this fiber optics so guess they had to tweak things. They kept telling me it was fine
until I got someone who realized it wasn't. Thanks again. Great support here and forum.

Your carrier isn't recognizing the flash, nothing you can do about it, most likely it' too fast. You could try hitting the off button and back to on to make it slower to see if that will work.

if i press off the phone rings and I can get the second call but I lose the first call?
Not sure where back is? I did click on off and then it rang and got the call.
I wonder if fiber optics makes call waiting different?
Thanks for your response.

Off than back to on, (flash/phone) off than immediately back to on. Would be the same as flash only a bit slower. I don't know if it wii work. Flash is just off, on only it's quick, doing what's described should do the same thing only slower. You could call your carrier to see if they can adjust the flash to accept a quicker flash, but I doubt they can.

To help clarify the terminology a "hook flash" is when you briefly hang up the line. The flash button does this as one operation. You can also do this with a regular phone by pushing the cradle button where the phone sits for a 1/4 second or so. spoom2 is suggesting you hang up and then immediately reconnect the line on your phone manually, in other words, press "OFF" and then pretty much immediately press "PHONE".

I see some Panasonic phones have a flash timer (should be a feature on all of them but isn't) that you can adjust. So maybe that would be an option if the suggested method doesn't work. You'd have to check the manual for whatever model you'd consider to make sure it had that option.

thanks for your answers. This is a new at&t set I bought and I like it except that my cable company
is not recognizing the flash. I did try that will pressing off and then on but I wind up disconnecting the
first call. Cable said every thing is working on their end and they cant do any thing. Only other thing I can do is they have a
feature where I can forward calls with no answer to another phone which could be my cell. That way I wont miss any calls.
This is so frustrating. Thanks

When you tried the off on, did you do it pretty fast? The reason I ask is that should be no different than the switch hook flash using the button in the cradle as described by @JefferMC If the phone is new and returnable I think I'd look into one of the Panasonic phones systems with the adjustable flash timer.

thanks but i dont want to return the phone. I have had these kind of phones for years
with no issue. I recently changed from landline verizon to cable phone which now is
fiber optics. Only way to do this is to tell person I have to hang up and take other call.
Or use the forwarding. At least it does tell me who is calling. Cable told me it is all working
and nothing they can do. Thanks. I did do it fast but didnt work.
