Experiencing issues with my AT&T Lumia 950 recognizing the AT&T SIM card. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently facing an issue with my AT&T Lumia 950 where it's not recognizing the AT&T SIM card, despite being unlocked. This problem is particularly puzzling as the SIM card worked perfectly fine on my previous device.

When I try to use the phone with the AT&T SIM card inserted, it doesn't connect to the network, and I'm unable to make calls or send texts. Strangely, when I check the SIM profiles in the phone's settings, it shows options for "T_mobile" and "T-mobile," but doesn't recognize my AT&T prepaid SIM.

I've already tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the SIM card, and ensuring that it's inserted correctly. However, none of these steps have resolved the issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions or troubleshooting tips to help resolve this problem? I'd greatly appreciate any assistance or insights you can provide.

Thank you in advance!

Hello @gregbowers,

We hear you, and we would like to shed some light on this.

  • Has your SIM card ever worked on your device? SIMs suddenly not connecting to the network is likely the result of a planned network maintenance for system improvement or enhancement. If this is the case, you will want to reply to this message and verify your ZIP code so we look into your area's service.
  • Are you receiving an error message related to your SIM card? Alerts on devices can inform us about what is actually causing your SIM to not work:
    • The device failed to register on the network.
    • Service is not provisioned or was deactivated.
    • There is no SIM card in the device or the device is unable to detect the SIM card.
    • You may be outside the AT&T coverage area into another carrier coverage area where we have no active roaming agreement.

If your SIM has ever worked on your device, one action that may help is to power cycle your device which is to power it off for several seconds then powering it on again. This will reconnect your device to the network and can help resolve your experience.

To learn how to do just that, visit our Device Support Center. After selecting your device's make and model, choose Troubleshooting followed by Reset Device. Follow the instructions as presented.

Hope this helps! Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
