You can use the Ethernet ports for other services.

The phone port on ATT gateways is only for ATT PHONE previously known as Uverse VoIP.
Any other VoIP provider would be using one of the Ethernet ports on the gateway, the provider you choose should be able to state if will work with ATT internet services…
