Why is U-verse Call Blocking limited to 20 numbers?
This has been a busy season for scam calls, spoofed calls, and telemarketers who ignore the Do Not Call list. After switching to U-verse Voice from AT&T POTS I was pleased that Call Blocking is an included feature, but the limit of 20 numbers is unfortunate.
Just today we got three scam calls; the "Your PC is infected" scam, a fake IRS "You are being sued" call, and a caller claiming to be our health insurance provider trying to collect personal info. At this rate, clearly 20 numbers is not enough.
My mobile phone offers a Call Blocking feature. I can block unlimited numbers. I can block by pattern, which is useful because often the scam calls come from fake exchanges like 805-117-xxxx and I know (having worked in the telco industry) that 1xx is not a real exchange. On my mobile I simply enter "805-1*-*" or "805-1xx-xxxx" as the pattern and calls from that fake exchange are rejected. In fact I can reject any call from a 1xx exchange as "xxx-1xx-xxxx".
Does anyone know why U-verse Voice limits this feature to 20 numbers? My mobile phone is obviously less powerful that AT&T's servers, so it's not a processing power issue.

That's more than what my current provider offers. What's annoying are those that have multiple phone numbers and blocking one doesn't block them all. My mobile has about 40 blocked numbers right now

While I agree that the 20 number limit is somewhat problematic, my advice would be JUST DON'T ANSWER A CALL YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE!
Maybe I have a small circle of friends and family but when a number shows up as "UNKNOWN CALLER" or "DONATE YOUR CAR" or 'AMVETS" some other unrecognized number or even area code, I just don't answer.
And just wait....with the elections gearing up, the calls will be relentless. We have city elections next month and some leave messages, some don't. It's neither here nor there to me. I ain't answering.....

I would like to know this as well. 20 numbers is not enough to block all the nonsense calls. I think most people need at least twice that number. I try to rotate the numbers that are blocked, but it becomes a big hassle. I never, ever answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, but some of them call multiple times a day - which is highly annoying. I don't understand why the limit...unless AT&T is catering to the telemarketers?!?
AT&T...maybe you should consider offering a service for an extra $1 a month where folks can block 50 calls...or something like that. I think many people would pay for that option!

You can use the Exclusive Call Forwarding to get rid of another 20 numbers. I forward to a number that calls me the most.
I purchased a call blocker on Amazon that claims to block 1200 numbers. So far I have about 100 numbers blocked. It was under $50 and free shipping with Prime.
