How do I change the "HANDSET" name on the handsets with the CLP99587 Phone System?

How do I change the "HANDSET" name on the handsets with the CLP99587 Phone System?  They currently all read "Handset", then a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 respectively.

Check the manual easily found on line. You may not be able to.

We're here to assist with your phone inquiry, @NealSch!

Just as our helpful ACE, @spoom2 mentioned, it's advised that you reference the user manual in our online manual article. Please do so and get back with us!

We look forward to hearing from you!

It is not in the manual.  But the manual refers to, "HANDSET X Registered (HANSET represents the handset name, X represents the handset number). witch to me seems to indicate that the HANDSET and X are both variables. When the handset registers the base unit automatically gets assigns a number which displays, but the name (HANDSET) remains the same.  There is no mention in the manual of how to change it, period.  I think it is an engineering problem, someone just forgot to add it to the firmware.  Just thought I'd try, or perhaps AT&T could fix and forward new firmware to me so I don't need a marquee sitting there to remind me where these phones are when calling using the intercom or paging features.

Thank you for getting back to us, NealSch.

If the manual does not show the option to change the handset name, then it likely means that option is not available for the CLP99587 phone model.

Although we're not able to forward firmware to you, we can pass along your feedback. If you have any questions or need help with anything else, let us know.
