I have no dial tone

This is not a new installation. I have reset the modem multiple times. Still no dial tone on my digital home phone (via U-verse).

Have you tried a different phone and cord? If so and it didn't have DT either you'll need to report it, usually a modem reset will fix it.

No dial tone on your U-verse home phone can be caused by a few things. Here's how to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check for outages:

  • Start by verifying if there's an outage in your area. You can check AT&T's service status page or contact their customer support to inquire.

2. Isolate the problem:

  • Try connecting a working phone directly to the phone jack on your U-verse modem (usually labeled "Phone 1"). If you get a dial tone here, the issue might be with your wireless handset or its base station.
  • If there's still no dial tone, try a different phone altogether. This helps identify if the problem lies with your specific phone.

3. Restart and check connections:

  • Even though you've reset the modem, try power cycling it again. Unplug the power cord for 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully boot up.
  • Ensure all phone cables are securely plugged into the wall jack, phone base station, and handset. Check for any visible damage to the cords as well.

4. Consider advanced troubleshooting:

  • If the above steps don't work, you might need to check your U-verse voice settings on your online account or through the modem interface (if available). However, for this step, it's recommended to consult AT&T's support documentation or reach out to their customer service to avoid making any unintended changes.
