5G+ speeds?

The fastest speed I’ve ever got on my iPhone 12 Pro Max at my home, which is regular 5G, is 347 mbps down and 49 mbps up.

I’ve connected to 5G+ towers in Philly and NYC and haven’t come anywhere close to those speeds.  The 5G+ speeds are actually slower than LTE speeds I’ve gotten.  I’m on a 5G+ tower now and getting 22/5 speeds.  My phone is set to use 5G.

How fast are 5G+ speeds supposed to be?

speeds very by tower because its all about how many people are on the tower.

This is what I’m getting on the current 5G+ tower. While it’s not bad for 5G, I thought 5G+ was supposed to be extremely fast.  I’m talking download a movie in seconds fast.  I’ve not seen a speed difference between 5G and 5G+.

AT&T doesn't list the speeds it should be as the numbers vary wildly. It would even give you different throughput per plan and how many others are using the tower.

Which plan are you on?

22Mbps is probably enough for your phone to be streaming a 4k stream. Do you need it faster?

Let us help you with your 5G service, @Morac.

As our ACE's @GLIMMERMAN76 and @Gary L stated, we do not have a set speed, every area is different depending on how many customers are connected to the tower in that area. Network congestion in the area, can result in slower data speeds.

Sometimes, during peak times, AT&T may slow down speed to keep everyone connected. Also, if you see a drop in service, or slow speeds, at a specific time, this could indicate another issue, like equipment around you emitting interference. It could also mean something on your device is causing issues.

If you are experiencing dropped calls and or poor signal, please visit our Dropped Calls & Low Signal forums page for some additional troubleshooting tips.

Hope this helps. If you require additional support, let us know! We will be happy to try some other options in a Direct Message.

Let me rephrase my question then since no one seems to have understood the original question.

What is 5G+ and should it be faster than 5G?

Thanks for your response, @Morac. We'd be happy to confirm the differences between 5G and 5G +.

Be advised, AT&T delivers three levels of 5G to our customers to give them unique experiences, faster speeds and capacity.

  • AT&T 5G using low-band spectrum reaches more than 277 million people in more than 18,000 cities and towns in the U.S.
  • AT&T 5G+ using recently introduced C-Band spectrum sits between our other two bands and provides a great combination of ultra-fast speeds and wide geographic coverage.
  • AT&T 5G+ using millimeter wave spectrum delivers super-fast speeds and unprecedented performances in high traffic areas including parts of more than 40 cities and more than 40 stadiums and venues.

5G+ is faster and more responsive for the most demanding apps and services, from gaming to streaming to video conferencing. (AT&T 5G requires a compatible plan and device and is not available everywhere. 5G+ is offered in limited locations in specific cities. Wireless technology varies by device. Go to att.com/5Gforyou for details.)

Feel free to reach back out to let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

Okay, so my point was from my experience 5G+ isn’t faster than 5G.  It’s not even faster than 5Ge (aka LTE).  Based on the above it sounds like that’s not supposed to be the case.

AT&T - this is a real issue. I'm all around Manhattan NYC all day, even outside, and 5G+ is significantly slower than all other types of service, even on an iPhone 13 Pro and after a reboot. It's like having a 2400 baud dial-up modem... and whenever my phone is super slow on internet, I look at the status bar, and 100% of the time it's on 5G+. Can you please have someone look into this and not give us a scripted response? Thank you!

I did find a 5G+ signal that gave me 905 mpbs at the Chicago O’Hare airport.   Most 5G+ ranges from 35 to 200 though.

For one being in NYC speeds are going to very wildly as its a dense area of users.
