Directv app using my data, not supposed to
Why is this app consuming data? It's supposed to be data free. I have directv and AT&T services. My high speed data is completely used up with me knowing. It's supposed to be data free viewing. What gives? This whole directv AT&T venture is fraudulent.

You just from being vague:
and
Then with all the vagueness you bring up fraud. Seriously?
The DirecTV app is only free data when run on a MOBILE device (phone / tablet) that is on AT&T postpaid.

It is an Android cellular phone. I have the unlimited choice postpaid. I've wasted 22GB of data on something that's suppose to be data free. All my streaming has been through the directv app, nothing else. Data free tv indeed. AT&T salesman are extremely dishonest. Great start to a 2 year contract, I wish someone would start a class action lawsuit on these people.

Data free TV usage will always show on your phone, just like any other data usage. It is not counted against your data usage. I have a limited plan and have used as much as 10 gigs of DirectTV NOW which is not deducted from my allowance.
On an unlimited choice plan, you have no data cap and your speed is limited to 3 mbps. How much data shows on your phone for all other apps? If you have been reprioritised, it is temporary, only when towers are congested. Data free is effected if you have reached 22 gigs with all other usage.

So why exactly do you believe your Directv streaming is counting against your data plan? If you base it on your phone stats, as explained above of course your phone shows the Directv app using data. Your phone does not know it's data free. Look on your online account usage, you will see "sponsored data" which does not count against your plan. That "sponsored data" is Directv. If you are on unlimited choice, your video streaming is limited to 1.5mbps. That's a lot of hours of streaming to get to 22GB.

@Rhiwythal No, it does NOT always show the disclaimer. My app launches directly to live TV and only once in a month does it show the data free TV pop up.
Instead of over reacting, have you actually checked your MY ATT app usage?
Your phone will ALWAYS show all data use.
It will show as sponsored in your account like this:

I will confirm what @lizdance40 said. The Directv app does not always display the "data free tv" banner but it is still data free.

Don't base it on that. It doesn't show me that every time I try it.

Old Thread but I have the same problem. The is counting data and my phone shuts downs and streams at 128k once the direct tv app uses up the data. From what I was told, the app should not show STREAMING data. Just show menu data. If you do not watch live TV you could get into some serious data use. However, live TV no menu or search I used 3 gig in one day. That is a lot of menus......Store says set up right, call 611, 611 cannot see anything wrong. The provisional data is on. ]
So I get about three hour of TV a month on my plan. Not happy!

@TJSVRS
Please review the above posts. (Especially post 7) Your phone will ALWAYS show data use. The data should be credited back on a daily basis. If you used 3 gigs on a 3 gig plan and most was sponsored, you will have it credited back.
If you continue to have slow data/no data because you are not getting all the sponsored data credited, then please report back.
