iPhone on AT&T not receiving texts from Android on Verizon

All of the sudden I can't receive text messages from my dispatcher who's using a Samsung on Verizon. I have an iPhone on AT&T.

Anyone else having this problem?

AT&T tech support said they are getting calls about it.

Everyone is pointing fingers. Verizon says it's not them.

Did some troubleshooting with AT&T to no avail.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps:

  • Toggle Airplane Mode on or off to fix issues with your wireless connection.
  • Ensure group messages and MMS are enabled.
  • Reset your network settings if needed.
  • Make sure the device has the most up to date software enabled.

I am also having this issue.  We noticed this about 10 days ago. Same situation, android (Samsung) on VZW can't text iPhone on AT&T.  Texts work the other way.

I am having this same issue / I have been on the phone with ATT customer support for hours on end and for months and they still cannot help me. The advice given above from the ATT rep does not work. ATT even tried to blame it on my apple device and told me to get a new device.  I went out and purchased a new phone. Still the same issue. It has something to do with the phone number but ATT can’t seem to figure it out - I am going to switch my service and all of my families service over to Verizon. That’s the best advice I can give as I have had other do the same and it fixed the issue. It’s a shame ATT won’t figure this out.

@Euquigley How do you know the problem is on ATT’s side? It could be on the sender’s side too. My wife and I both have iPhones, we have no issues receiving texts from our daughter who has an android on Verizon. Anyway, hope switching carriers works for you.

We have the same problem. We are on an AT&T family plan, and in mid December all five of our iPhones stopped receiving texts from Androids. AT&T has tried to trouble each individual iPhone, but it’s clearly an issue with our entire AT&T account. We have an “open ticket” that hasn’t been responded to in over a week.

I just recently got an iPhone and switched over to AT&T from Verizon. Ever since I switched, I am not receiving any texts from android devices that don't use AT&T. I can receive texts just fine from other iPhones that aren't on ATT but when I text an android that doesn't use ATT, I don't receive the texts. They get my texts but I cant see theirs. I tried contacting ATT and they just told me its a problem with Verizon, and it only happens to iPhones on ATT.

Same issue here. Brand new iPhone. They receive my messages, I do not receive theirs.

  • Software updated
  • Reset network settings.
  • Turned airplane mode on and off
  • Send as SMS on
  • MMS on
  • Group messaging on
  • iMessage on, also tried with it off, didn’t fix it
  • One particular android user has never had an iphone – not an issue with “delisting from iMessages” on their end
  • Testing with them, I still have connectivity on my laptop via messages.google.com. I receive their messages through that platform, but not on my phone.

Hey guys, I'm curious if anyone ever got a fix for this issue. I am having a similar problem. I use an android on att network and I haven't been getting and messages from any iPhones on any network for about 2 weeks now. Also no iPhones receive my texts. I can still call and get calls from iPhones but no texts. I've done all the suggested troubleshooting steps and nothing has changed. I switched phones thinking that may be the problem. No change. It's got to be an issue with the network but so far no answers from att.

File a complaint with the BBB. That will get Corporate involved and you will get a call from a Senior Manager. It may or may not be related to a corrupted or mis-configured file on your account that will take someone way above the normal CS Agents/Managers to isolate and fix. That may not be the problem but for us, with our iPhones, we had a similar issue and it was corrected by a Manager in the Office of the President. It's worth a shot.

I'm having the same issue now. I have a Samsung phone z-fold 5 on Verizon. I cannot text anybody that has an AT&T iPhone. This has been going on since February. I am losing business because my clients are telling me they're not receiving my text messages. It's also getting family members and friends upset at me because they think I'm not returning their text messages. Verizon said it has nothing to do with their end And of course AT&T can't help me because I don't have service with them. Somebody is at fault
