Text from iPhone to Android not working
I have been unable to send texts from iPhone to Android for some time now. Texts appear to send normally with no errors but are never received. AT&T support has been unable to resolve the issue and terminates troubleshooting when I am unable to determine whether the text failed or the recipient just hasn't responded. I have reached the point where I am considering switching carriers but am concerned that I might have the same issue with a different carrier. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I n order to resolve this issue I had to file a BBB complaint. A support technician from “the office of the president” then was able to pinpoint the issue in a matter of minutes. The Android phones that were not receiving my messages were all Verizon phones. It was a Verizon issue. I was previously a Verizon customer and was still in their system.

Switching service providers will not resolve an issue that is with your iphone and iMessage.
Make sure that your phone is set up to use your phone number to send and receive text and phone calls. If that does not force the fix, then you should deregister from iMessage which can take 48 hours. This will force your phone to send all messages as regular SMS which should resolve the problem.
You can then turn iMessage back on if you wish.

Hello @cjandrle, we hear you, and want to help get this sorted. I hope you're having a great day.
We want to help you receive the text messages from your dispatcher!
Here are a few troubleshooting steps:
Did you recently make any changes to your plan? Do you use 2FA (2 Factor Authorization) and if so, does it work?
First let's try to reset your device network settings. To do this, select the:
Settings app > General > scroll to and select Transfer or Reset iPhone > select Reset > Reset Network Settings > select Reset Network Settings again to confirm.
We hope this information was helpful, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Another question. Can you RECEIVE text messages from Android users. Want to troubleshoot that it isn't an SMS issue with your account.

My phone number is set up to receive text and phone calls.
I've tried toggling airplane mode on and off.
Group messages and MMS are enabled.
Software is up-to date with IOS 17.2.1. I've installed several updates during the course of this issue without any fix.
I haven't made any changes to my plan. Two factor authentication does work.
Have reset network settings multiple times with no luck.
Yes, I can receive text messages from Android users.

I would still recommend filing the BBB complaint. It apparently is the only way to escalate a technical issue to a higher level of AT&T support.

Update: I found on an Apple Forum a suggestion that after a iOS software update that "fixed the issue by resetting my phone. Settings-general-transfer/reset-reset- reset all settings. The problem is fixed and my backup was only a precaution it was not necessary to wipe my phone clean."
It worked and I did not lose any of my data/photos other than needing to re-establish my wifi networks . I am now able to text from iPhone to Android. Let's hope it continues to work.
Thanks
