The number you are calling is no longer in service

I have called AT&T 10 times to get help with an error message people get when calling me. When I don't answer my calls the error message tells them the number they have called is no longer in service. I am losing business and AT&T doesn't care.

AT&T Customer service staff is the worse I have ever worked with. They have disconnected my call, and lie to me because they know they can't be traced. I spoke with several departments to resolve the issue. They went so far as to say it was because my voicemail wasn't setup and that was the issue. They had me setup the voicemail with them on the phone and still didn't resolve the issue but we conveniently got disconnected again. They just transfer you or give you another number to call if you don't get disconnected. The last person (melissa) even took my number and promised to keep me updated, that didn't happen either.

You ask to speak with a manager but they make sure you can never be transferred to a manager or anyone who cares enough to actually help. The last transfer I left my phone on speaker phone for 3 hours. What a joke!

That sounds like your number is being forwarded when unanswered to a dead end. Either it's being forwarded to a number that is no longer in service, which is very likely, or your voicemail is not set up correctly.

If when you started service you didn't set up your voicemail box, unanswered phone calls have nowhere to go. Usually the message says the user you're trying to call has a voicemail box that is not set up. And then the call hangs up.

To bypass regular support and get someone more adept to handle your issue, file a better business bureau complaint online. The better Business bureau complaint gets forwarded to AT&T upper Management and someone will contact you. If they get the same message, they'll also get the drift and understand why your problem is a really big problem
