How to Port ATT landline from ATT DSL to ATT fiber?

Since last October I have been working to upgrade our ATT landline and DSL to ATT fiber with the same landline number.  Only recently the Fiber was installed. It has a phone jack on the back. No where can anyone, or any where on the ATT website, is there any information as to how to accomplish. Both my wife and I are 76, so our landline number is our "life line" number.

Presently I am paying for ATT landline on our ATT DSL, but no where does anyone have any clue how to port our DSL landline number to our new ATT fiber.

This inability threatens the safety of my wife. She is frail with a heart condition.  Hence the designation "life line."

And we are paying for Internet access TWICE.  That is so unfair.  Who should I complain to? I have already complained dozens of times, but no followup.  I have high frequency hearing loss and most, if not all, the call center folks are poorly trained in English. Their English is pidgin English and in no way any US dialect.  When I ask to speak to someone with a US English dialect, they say that is impossible.  I have been working since last October to get our ATT landline on ATT fiber and discontinue the ATT DSL.  Much more bandwidth, less latency, and less money.  But without the ATT landline moved there, my wife is at greater risk than she should be.

Anyone else had this head banging issue?

Since you're going AT&T to AT&T you should just be able to tell them you want to move your phone service from traditional landline to AT&T Phone (digital service) where the phone plugs into the back of the modem. If normal channels don't work file an FCC complaint.

Apologies for my poorly communicating the problemo.

Yes, you are correct, that is how it "should" work, however........

But despite my age, (I am a Vietnam War Vet.) I am not cognitively challenged.

I have an ATT landline already on our ATT DSL. I only wish to move the ATT landline from the ATT DSL to our new, faster, cheaper ATT fiber. Sure I can file with the FTC, FCC, FCPB, Georgia AG and file a fraud suit in the Rockdale County Superior Court. Given that my wife is frail with a heart condition, should I sue ATT for wrongful death then?  Timeliness is important here.

Cancel the DSL line and keep your traditional phone phone.

You cannot bundle POTS and Uverse GigaPower which was the original name of ATT Fiber before December 2016.

Means two separate bills paying full price for the Phone line.

Or move the POTS line to ATT Phone, can bundle services… if internet goes down so does the phone line.

Have a cellular phone on hand at all times as either fiber or copper services can have issues over time.

That's exactly the information I gave you. Like I said, if normal channels aren't working file an FCC complaint, none of the others will do you any good. An FCC complaint goes to the office of the president and will be assigned to a senior staff member in the office of the president. I really don't understand why there's an issue when telling them you want to move your present landline to the digital service provided on the fiber modem.

@my thoughts It was my understanding from the original post he was trying to move the landline to the digital service. While losing power will cause a loss of Internet and phone service, there's always the option of a battery backup to keep the modem, ONT if separate from the modem and a cordless phone system going, for quite some time.

Our life line ATT phone number has been on ATT DSL for several years now. ATT Fiber is cheaper, faster. Non-English support is part of the problem here.

@spoom2 , your churlishness is duly noted. Thank you for the insight that FCC complaints are required to garner ATT C level attention. And in the meantime, okay for us to be paying for 2 Internet access points?   I think not.

@my thoughts , this is not a teaching moment for me, but, imho, ageism by you.  I have been "online" since 1982 starting with a Hayes Microcomputer 300 baud modem plugged into my IBM PC-1 RS232 port.  I have been using ATT for 50+ years. I know exactly why they were broken into the Seven Wicked Sisters, some decades ago.

Sounds to me like you're not looking for help, just to vent. Don't see where trying to point you in the right direction is rude, but to each his own. We are customers, not AT&T employees and give of our time freely to try to help others. With that I'm done.

Oh, at 76, my anger here is just re: ATT.  Did I not thank you? Oh, talking down to someone my age, imho, is ageism. Sad, very.

Porting to fiber VOIP landline is something sales do on daily basis. Have you tried stopping by AT&T store perhaps?

NO THEY DON'T.  I AM NOT "COGNITIVELY CHALLENGED."  AGEISM, EH?

Have I tried to go to a store?  Asking such is ageism, imho. They are NOT generally helpful because they are franchises and ONLY interested in selling something new. I have called the -2020 number DOZENS of times, so AGAIN:

MUST I COMPLAIN TO THE FCC GET THIS EGREGIOUS SERIES OF ISSUES ADDRESSED?

ATT HAS NO WAY OF DIRECTLY ESCALATING UNADDRESSED, LIFE THREATENING ISSUES?   <gasp>
