New Landline Connection

Hello,

I am interested in purchasing regular (non internet-based) landline service.

I called the number listed on the “home phone” webpage and the guy who answered was not helpful, he kept telling me about wireless AT&T home internet. I do not have an AT&T box on the exterior of my house, but I can see that many of my neighbors do. Also, AT&T fiber is not available at my address or any of my neighbors’ addresses, I checked.

Does AT&T still offer landlines like this? I do not care what it costs, I just want to know if it can be done. If someone could point me in the right direction or give me some knowledge, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Traditional landlines are being phased out and are no longer offered in many areas. The wireless home phone from AT&T is called AT&T Phone Advanced, others also offer wireless home phones. These phones work off the cellular network and you plug a regular phone into them. I've had a Verizon wireless home phone for several years and I'm very happy with the reliability and call quality, it's as clear as the old landlines. I'm an old phone guy and pretty picky about voice quality, which is why I hate to talk on cell phones. Another option would be VoIP services like Ooma and Vonage the only problem with a VoIP service is if you don't have good quality Internet, they can be a bit quirky at times.

Less & less.  Is ATT Internet (not necessarily fiber) available in your area?

Zip code?

ATT has started the process of closing central offices in some areas while other areas have not started the process but may not be adding new accounts.

For legacy DSL accounts, similar service as POTS from source (CO) they stopped taking new services in October 2020.
