Payments Over the Phone
For my landline I've made auto payments over the phone for years. Now, when I try I'm transferred to customer service where they want to charge a fee. Another else experiencing this?
I can still make my internet payments by phone just fine. What gives?

I understand the Payment Convenience Fee, $5. But, lately when I call the autoplay feature to pay my landline it "kicks" me to Customer Service where I'd be charged. I finally made my payment, but I had to do a "work around." I seems they are trying to force you to pay the fee.

Hi @SouthPaw52Atl, sounds like you've been through a lot, and we want to help change this experience for you.
We recommended that you choose AutoPay so that you can save $5 on your bill every month. To sign-up for AutoPay please follow few steps provided in the article -Sign up for and manage AutoPay.
NOTE: After you sign up for AutoPay billing, it can take up to two bill periods for AutoPay to start. Pay as usual until you see AutoPay is scheduled.
Signing up for AutoPay will provide you a $5 discount on you bill and the bill amount will be auto deducted from your debit/ credit card.
Good to know: AutoPay methods using a credit card will have an earlier draft date. AutoPay using a debit card or bank account will draft closer to your bill due date.
As the AutoPay will not include any customer service agent or authorized retail agent, there will not be any convenience fee.
For further assistance, we are always here to help!

Thanks for the information, but I prefer to pay over the phone or I'll go back to mailing. Maybe even drop the landline and go cell since they want to make things difficult for us "ole timers" with home phones.

Ole timers with home phones can benefit from wireless home phones. Several companies sell them and if you have a good signal on their cell service you can't tell them from a landline and they are much less expensive. AT&T doesn't sell a standalone wireless home phone.

Hi @SouthPaw52Atl, we understand how it makes you feel, and sorry for the inconvenience.
Note: The system might have deleted the card information (Landline). They no longer save card number. Because of that the call is getting transferred to a representative. You can speak to a representative who can renter the card details over the phone real-time. You will be able to pay through the automated system over the phone.
And, we'll consider this as feedback to work for the future betterment.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
