the bill way over charge

i am in low income family my bill always $12.85 every month but last month my bill was $ 72.26 and they take it from my bank without my authorization, i dispute this amount, later att give me statement credit for $ 72.26, but today 09/29/2023 i received bill for $ 47.45 and they removed the statement credit the give me, what is going on throwing numbers no base for it ,its ript off. you return the $72.26 to the bank and remove the $ 47.45, and i owed you only $12.85 my monthly bill as a low income family.

If you are on automatic bill pay, then they did have authorization. The amount of the bill changing doesn't mean they have to get separate authorization.

Now why the bill was different is such a big amount is the question. When you read your bill and compared it to the normal one, where was the difference? Any new charges? Existing charge in a different amount? Any credits drop off?

no its not on automatic bill pay my monthly bill $12.85 for the past two years, that low income , and now i received a new bill $47.45, what is going on att just trowing numbers no base for it. att give me credit for the $72.26 than later removed something wrong with the billing dept.

The only way AT&T would take payment is if you were set on auto bill pay, you closed your account and left an outstanding balance, or a one-time payment was submitted. Since you say it was not authorized, and assuming your account has been active, I would check to make sure your account wasn't put on auto bill pay.

Instead of just throwing the number, what are the itemized details of each bill? That should explain where and why the difference is. That way you have knowledge on what to dispute if an error or what else needs to be addressed. Otherwise you would need to call AT&T to go over the bills in detail to find out what happened.

Did you do recertification for the ATT ACCESS account?

If you do not submit the application with documentation to recertify then you lose the $10 per month status and would be placed in a same plan at normal rates which $72.26 sounds correct if $60 internet plus $10 gateway fee for $70 plus fees of $2.26

If approved if ACP that has a $30 discount per month (60-30=30) plus equipment fee plus any additional line items.

The details are on your monthly billing statement, have you compared line by line the last three months billings?

Hello @jhang88 , we're happy to help.  Thanks to @my thoughts for jumping in and providing info as well.

Starting July 17, 2023, Access from AT&T customers began receiving notifications informing them that they are required to re-certify and confirm eligibility for the Access from AT&T program.

    • Note: Customers who have the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) benefit applied to their Access from AT&T account are not required to re-certify for Access from AT&T.

There are two ways customers can keep receiving low-cost internet service with Access from AT&T:

  1. Customers can get free internet (up to 100M) with Access from AT&T and the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
    • Customers can visit att.com/acp to learn more about the program
    • Also, customers can check if they qualify for the ACP at www.getinternet.gov
    • If approved for the ACP, they’re automatically approved for Access from AT&T when applying the ACP benefit to their Access from AT&T plan.
  2. Customers can complete and submit the Access from AT&T recertification application at att.com/accessrecertify.
    • The process is similar to the initial Access from AT&T application process and requires supporting documentation be provided.

For customers who no longer qualify for the Access from AT&T program or who fail to re-certify, their Access from AT&T discount is removed on the bill cycle date after their recertification deadline.

If you need additional details, please contact our dedicated Access from AT&T Program Center:

    • Spanish: 855.220.5225.

Thanks
