Why is our ATT landline phone bill over $100 monthly, and we don't make calls?

Hi, I am retired and on a fixed income.  We only use our landline, for lifeline connections, in case one of us has an emergency?  We don't even make phone calls out, yet our landline  bill is $96 + every month.   Our phone bill used to be $30 /month, when we signed up.   We cannot afford our phone bill.  It costs more for our phone bill, than our electric, gas and water combined.

Isn't there a cheaper option for rural customers who just want to stay safe??

Review your bill.  You may be able to change the service to something cheaper.  Call CS @ 800-288-2020.

If there is a good cell phone signal at your location from any carrier look into wireless home phones. Call quality is excellent, can't really tell them from a landline, I've had one for quite a few years around 30 a month, taxes and all, includes calling features and long distance.
