Do I change the sim card from my old hot spot to my new hot spot?

I have a hot spot router with the unlimited plan for a few years now. I've heard that ATT is no longer offering this plan for their hot spot routers but since I was on this plan before they made the change I'm okay. I've upgraded to the new Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router but I'm unclear if I just change the sim card from my old device to the new one, or if I just activate the sim card on the new device. I didn't want to play around with it because I read that if I do it wrong it could be breaking the contract I have with ATT and I could lose the unlimited data, so what do I do? Do I change the sim card, or do I just activate the new one?

Hello @ashewottlin

Congratulations on your upgrade. We will be happy to help with your SIM card, and your new router.

Your SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) is a smart card that contains a profile that controls data access, & network selection, not plan selection.

Your new Nighthawk Hotspot Router uses a MICRO-SIM card.

If your old router uses a MICRO SIM you can simply swap out your SIM-card. If not, you will need to activate the new SIM by visiting att.com/activations

We hope this information helps. Please let us know we you have activated your Nighthawk.
