Duplicate text messages appearing on my text log

I have been getting duplicate text messages on my monthly text log. The duplicates seem to come from those that use the Galaxy phone. The text appear once on my phone but multiple times on my log. I don't want to rack up text overage charges due to this situation.

Any color you can provide will be very helpful.

Hey @gcraddock!

Thanks for reaching out about this!

Do you know if the user is experiencing sending duplicates to their contacts?

Sometimes the system will have duplicates in the log because of resends when try to get a message through, however there are other bugs that could potentially create real duplicate messages.

We of course, want to be sure we look into this, and that you don’t experience any overages because of that!

Have an amazing day!

I am having a similar issue. It only appears to happen in a group text. In the group text several messages are duplicate. When I start a new text person to person it's fine.

I asked and the user has TMobile.

I also asked and they didn't have any issues sending. They only hit send once.

Hey @eteypay!

We’re glad to help out, that would definitely be annoying!

One good step to get started with is clearing the cache and data for your messaging application (This can only be done on android).

You can do that by going to Settings > Device > Applications > Application Manager > Messages > Storage (This will not delete your messages).

I hope that helps out! Feel free to keep us updated on this matter! We’re always glad to help here in the AT&T Community!

I have an iPhone 6 Plus. Version 10.1 (14B72)

I'm going to install a new public Beta 10.2 Beta 1 and see if this is something with 10.1 software.

Hi again @eteypay!

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

If you go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, do you see your iMessage and Phone Number listed at the receiving section?

Sometimes this can cause duplicates to trigger from the message sending to your iMessage and cellular number.

Let us know how that Beta works for you! We would be glad to hear your experiences with it!

All the best!

I have the same issue. Want to know the funny part. IT HAPPENS ON ALL MY PHONE LINES. And I have like 8 of them. it's only happening with incoming messages. WHY DO I FEEL ITS DUE TO ATT AND DOUBLE BILLING. Like theres a reason it happens and its not do to the settings we have on our phone BUT SOMETHING ATT IS DOING TO ENSURE THEYRE MAKING MORE MONEY SOMEHOW.
