HELP I'VE GOT A GIRL CRUSH

Hello, so recently i met a really cool girl and we really hit it off and wanted to keep contact after our chance encounter, she gave me her number and as soon as i texted it it sent a message from a 1121611611 number saying error invalid number please resend using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. i thought she had given me a fake number or something, so about a week ago WE MET again BY SOME MIRACLE at our local grocery store, she was acting totally friendly so i asked if she had given me a wrong number and she said no, so this time i give her MY number, she texts me and it comes through as the contact i had set her number under BUT NONE OF MY TEXTS GO THROUGH to her phone, it keeps sending me the same error message every time i try. i am so frustrated! please help!!! i have a alcatel android and i THINK hers is an iphone, not sure though...

Greetings, @candradoll!

Welcome to the Community Forums! I definitely understand wanting to make sure texting won’t be an issue with a potential love interest and I can definitely help with this!

If your number was previously attached to an iPhone, your number may still be tied to an iMessage account. If the number is still attached to an iMessage account and you attempt to text an iPhone, the message will fail as the iPhone will try to receive the text as an iMessage.

If you have not disabled iMessage on a previous iPhone and do not have the iPhone available, don’t worry. Apple provides a website for this exact situation. You can follow this link here to access the site.

Once you are there, please scroll down to “No longer have your iPhone?” then enter your phone number, and click send code. Once you receive the code you will want to enter it and then you will receive a confirmation iMessage has been deactivated.

If this is not the case, I would be more than happy to look further into this for you as I would hate for this opportunity at love to pass you by! Please send us a private message to @ATTHelp if you require further assistance. Please include your name, phone number, and any other account information you feel may be helpful in the personal message, so we can help to the best of our ability.

I hope all works out with this girl crush! Thank you for participating in our Community Forums and reaching out. Have a great day!
