Kyocera DuraXE texting software update badly needed...

Ok, if you don't have a DuraXE, stop reading here.  If you do, you know how buggy the texting portion of the software is.  Among the most infuriating issues are the lack of the now-public-domain T9 predictive (a touch-screen based software is used instead, which is clumsy with the tiny navigation button this phone has (miss you Rugby!)) and the fact that words keep disappearing out of the dictionary and cannot easily be replaced...I have to select other words and then delete or add letters as needed.  The "custom dictionary" quickly filled to its 100 word limit in the first few days.  How about the useless notification "Transporting SMS" that cannot be turned off?  Does any person care about that notification or is it like an electronic mosquito?  How about, upon receiving a short text, the fact that you basically have to read it 3 times before it is marked read?

Some other minor issues too, but I love that the last software update finally fixed the non-working "Persistent Alerts"...so I know that you have the capability to repair some of these engineering goofs Kyocera made.  This phone remains slightly inferior to the Rugby 2 it was forced to replace, but I would look forward to the next update to fix some more of the sloppy software...what is the expected time frame on getting this thing to work correctly (since I am paying for it)?

We understand the importance of needing a device that works to the best of its ability, and we'd like to help, @RexFaktor.

Be advised, when a new software update becomes available for your device, a notification with instructions for downloading it will be sent to your device. AT&T Customer Service and Community Forums do not have advance knowledge of the update but learn of the software update at the same time it is made available to customers.

Your feedback is definitely important to us, so we'll be sending the detailed information you've provided to us to our team for further review.

Feel free to reach back out to us if you require any additional assistance, and we'd be happy to continue to help!

Lynn, thank you for your response.  Re-reading my post, I see I mentioned several different issues, when it was really only one that precipitated my writing.  The phone has a "predictive" text feature that works poorly because, for a reason I have not figured out yet, common words keep vanishing out of the dictionary.  The "my words" feature to add custom words to the dictionary is full (100 of 100) of common, mundane words that I got tired of manually typing or selecting a longer word and deleting/changing letters.  A T9 predictive software (like the Samsung Rugby had) would work much better I think, but for now, how do I get the text dictionary to stop losing words and even if not, can it be restored to its original list of words without losing all my phone's data and settings and such?

Thank you for the response, @RexFaktor.

We understand how important it is to use your predictive text feature. We do recommend viewing the Kyocera Dura XE user manual for additional assitance on the special features your device offers. If your device worked fine with the last software update, it could possibly be the new update has made some changes to the device. To get more information, please reach out to Kyocera Support for better assistance.

We hope this helps. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums. Please feel free to reach back out with any other questions.

The DuraXE must have the worst predictive texting software imaginable.  It does not form a word as you type, but you have to arrow down and select every word as you go.  The first selection in the list is always the list of numbers you just typed, which is so dumb.  So many common words are missing or eight clicks away down the list.  Often it will not have a plural of a simple word.  When I add words to the "my words" they never appear in the predictive list (unless they are way down somewhere I would never take time to look for).  NO CAPITALIZED NAMES!!  Really??!!  And no, I'm still not going to buy a smart phone.  Apparently the Sonims have a better texting software as well as the DuraXV Extremes.  The Nokia 2780 texting is OUTSTANDING, however, the build quality is atrociously poor.  Ours already fell apart and had other problems out of the box.  So, my quest for the best flip phone continues...
