Sony XPERIA Z3 D6653 LTE (FACTORY UNLOCKED).

Hi,

this is the white paper spec from sony.

UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
TD-LTE (Band 40)

FD-LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28)

Do you think this phone will support 4G LTE on att?

Thank you,

If I'm not mistaken, you need bands 2, 4, 17 for AT&T LTE. So from the specs it looks like 6603, 6633 & 6643 are better suited models than 6653 or 6616.

Thank you for the info. Given that ATT uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) for LTE, do you think I can get the Z3 D6603 or D6643 to get LTE support?

I had the Z3 D6653, and I only recieved H+, not LTE.

Thank you everyone for clarification. I will get D6603 instead, this is a dual SIM card model.

According to the Sony whitepaper on Z3 both D6603 and D6643 support the necessary LTE bands. You will still have to make sure that you get the LTE enabled on your line, there were several reports of struggles to get that done with LTE-capable Xperia devices before. AT&T may still be limiting the back-end LTE support to phones with known IMEI numbers, but once you get it enabled it stays.

According to the specs, yes. Keep in mind that it's pretty typical for the full radio spectrum to be only available on the first SIM though, with the second SIM only getting 2G (maybe 3G) support.

I copied the same APN from my Xperia Z1, which has the same network connections and had 4G LTE connection. Currently residing in Honolulu, Hawaii, if that makes any difference.
