Why does phone location show anything else other than Pennsylvania where I'm actually located at?

Why does phone location show anything else other than Pennsylvania where I'm actually located at? Because of this,  I can't view live content and can't connect to unsecured wifi connections here.  Att said to reset network settings but that doesn't help... can any ATT rep help me out here? I always show ohio or Michigan,  but not PA for my ip.... please and thank you:)

Are you connected to Wi-Fi? Or just cellular?

ATT AIR is CGNAT, you are assigned to an upstream device that has capacity.

The upstream device receives the public IP address, you receive a private IP address from a pool that the upstream device has.

Can try unplugging the power, wait a few minutes, then restore power… you may or may not receive a connection to a different device.

FWA (fixed wireless access) for T-Mobile and Verizon residential 5G Home internet works the same using CGNAT.

Verizon Business FWA allows you to order a set of static IPs for a one time charge of $500.

https://nfware.com/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-nat-and-cgnat#:~:text=CGNAT%20(Carrier%2DGrade%20NAT),a%20single%2C%20public%20IP%20address.

What is CGNAT?

CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) is a variant of NAT that is used by internet service providers (ISPs) to provide internet access to their customers. CGNAT works by allowing multiple customers to share a single, public IP address. This is done by assigning unique port numbers to each customer's device, similar to how PAT works.

CGNAT is used by ISPs to conserve public IP addresses, as the pool of available IPv4 addresses has been exhausted. IPv6 addresses, which have a much larger pool, are slowly being adopted, so many ISPs use CGNAT as a solution to the IPv4 address shortage.

I'm on ATT cell data for first poster.  For 2nd poster.   I also tried rebooting, toggling both the mobile data and network settings reset buttons with no luck/  the att chat rep was no help either, telling me to visit att store in person to troubleshoot?  Probably her way to get me off chat and be someone else's problem:(  coworker has tmobile and gets ,PA but another has Verizon and gets NJ!  Wow what a cluster F , just want to view live content away from home but still in SNP viewing area but can't because ATT has me located out of state!

It might be helpful if you told us what application you are using? Is this Hulu live TV application? Or is this a local news or sports app?

If the application you are using is locating your phone by its IP that's going to be a problem. It should be using the location services on your phone. If you have disabled your location services or not allowing a particular application to pinpoint your location properly, that might be the problem

@enzone45

Has the problem persisted for 9 months or is it intermittent?

formerlyknownas I'm using the sportsnet pittsburgh 360 app to try and watch live games on my cell data since I can't connect to any secure wifi other than at home.  It definitely goes by ip and I do have location services enabled for all apps.

catchtwentytwo yes it has been an ongoing problem . I don't think I ever had it work right haha

Have you tried troubleshooting with the app developer?

formerlyknownas. Yes many times via email because they don't do phone or chat support.   They are blaming the carrier for placing my location out of state so I'm basically (Edited per community guidelines) when trying to view live content anytime I leave the house... they 'refunded' my first month of service by canceling my sub then I gotta re sign up again for snp360 after June 6th since they 'don't do refunds' on the service! 🤷‍♂️🤦
