AT&T Authorized Agent Store-SPEARHEAD

Local store was an ATT corp store, now Spearhead.  They exercise what would be considered a bait and switch.  Told me the phone was a specific price, but was higher when the bill came. When I questioned the store about it, the same guy (said he was manger) said "oh yeah, the lower price is what the phone is, if you want to upgrade after 18 months.  I expected the cost of the phone to be $6.00 per month, however that was the cost of Next Up(SM) - phone upgrade feature $6.00 MONTHLY.  Why would anyone possibly pay an extra $6.00 per month to upgrade a phone they just purchased?  I inquired, at the store, as to why the equipment was more than discussed and the same individual said, "Yeah remember the cost was if you wanted to upgrade early..."  which was nonsense.  I recall exactly what we discussed.  It was only after I purchased a new iPhone 15+ (from AT&T Direct Online)for my son, that I noticed I was overpaying for my phone with the Next UP.  I have since had the charge removed, by calling into ATT Customer Care, but is after paying the Next up charge for 6 months.  Agents are scammers and I would recommend that anyone interested in a new phone only deal with ATT direct.  Stores operated by Spearhead are hurting AT&T and it's customers.

First of all if you're reading an advertised price, it has absolutely nothing to do with the $6 next up fee. If you want that removed, call AT&T and ask them to remove the option and the fee.

Once that $6 next up fee is removed you will be required to pay out all 36 months, you will not have the option to upgrade early

It's not unusual for authorized retailers to add insurance as well as next up when people upgrade because it cannot be added later, but it can be removed at any time.

As for the cost of the phone, if you purchased a phone with some sort of advertised discount, for example iPhone 14 is advertised at $5.99 right now, that is not how it will show on your bill.

It will show the full installment amount on your bill, credits begin in 90 days just as published in the online offer
