AT&T never gave me trade-in credit

This whole program is insane. "Mail in your phone or return it in store and we will give you $800 credit in three months."  SCAM

I traded my iPhone 13pro max in around December Or January of 2022. It is now January of 2023. After multiple calls and hours on the line with people, they confirmed I returned my phone on time WHICH I KNEW BECAUSE I PAID THE ENTIRE PHONE OFF THEM TRADED IT IN THE SAME DAY. After three months passed by, you guessed it!!! no credit had been applied to my account. Call again. And again. The people can't tell me anything other than to wait some more dude!! I kept waiting called again and got told my phone bill was raised because I was paying for the phone?! 

CONFUSED BECAUSE THE AT&T WORKER TOLD ME I WOULD BE GETTINF $800 TRADE IN CREDIT FROM MY OLD PHONE AND THAT IT WOULD BE APPLIED TO THE NEW ONE AND THE PRICE DIFFERENCE WAS ONLY $100 so out of pocket after the credit was applied I only needed to pay $100 for my new phone…. WRONG. Never got an $800 credit and it still paying full price for the new trade in I got back in 2022. I never got an $800 credit for the perfect condition phone I traded in to them in store day of paying it off. I’m fed up.


This seriously should be illegal, AT&T should be required to process credits for trade-ins upon receipt of the device. Or at least in a prompt fashion. No more of this "we will credit your account in a few months or whenever we feel like getting around to it."

I’ve literally called any nobody can give me a straight answer other than I’m paying the full price of the phone in increments each month (Edited per community guidelines). 

Do not AND I MEAN DO NOT EVER trust this process. Seriously.

Whether it is negligence or malice on the part of AT&T, I don't know, but this whole thing is ridiculous and I’m tired of it. 


I literally have no other choice but to continue paying off my new phone and then sever all ties with AT&T immediately afterward. And then convince everyone I know to leave AT&T as well. I should have never paid my phone off in full and traded it in. I was fooled by AT&T staff that I would get my $800 credit. 

1) My old phone was paid off completely. 2) I was told by the AT&T store worker I was on a qualified plan. 3) AT&T has admitted to me that they did receive my phone in time. 4) No credits have appeared on account or are available in my itemized paper statements.

Assuming I am wrong about any of this and I did not qualify for the promotion, then AT&T is still under obligation to determine my trade-in null and void and return my property to me.

This program is ripe for fraud, conversion, and conflict of interest. The loser is going to be the customer in every scenario as you have no leverage once you send your phone. They could report that you sent a fruit salad to them instead of a phone.

File a BBB complaint and someone higher up at AT&T will contact you for a resolution. A high percentage of trade ins have no problems. I have done mine several times and never had a problem. A few skip through the cracks especially when the phone is mailed. It is important to keep all records of the trade and the mailing so that when the credits do not come, you can file a complaint and it will mostly be rectified.

Unfortunately my phone was not mailed in. I went to my local AT&T store paid my iPhone 13 Pro Max off and traded the phone in store that same day. They received the phone immediately after I paid it off in the store and the new phone was purchased right after that. I have seen no credits and each time I talked to someone they kept telling me the credits would show up soon. It’s a whole year later and I’m still paying for the pull price of the new phone in increments each month. The $800 credit has not been seen a whole year later when my phone was traded in day off in store,

Just filed complaint with BBB with statements and documents that after a year I never got the $800 trade in credit and that I have paid full price for the phone that should’ve only been $100 out of pocket after trade in credit was applied.

@madysonquinn how can I file a complaint with BBB?? same is happening to me, and this its honestly ridiculous how many of us have been affected by this scam.

It’s been 18 months and I still have not received my $700. AT&T are a bunch of crooks, I called a few months after my trade in and got the run around. Yes we received your phone but you’ll have to wait for the credit. Why not just apply it to the new phone being purchased? This will be my last go around with AT&T after being a customer for 15+ yrs. It’s shameful what they put their loyal customers through. I will be filing with bbb and reguardless of what resolution they come up with in out.
