AT&T trade in program

I went to the AT&T store on Sunday and upgraded my phone and paid all the necessary fees. Phone was shipped but the carrier (AT&T) kept requesting the item baxk while it was on delivery route. I called customer service and there is nothing they can do. I have to wait until the item is now scanned in and my account reset. I was told this could take up to 10days. Tracking status shows the item was signed for by an AT&T representative but I still CANNOT get an upgrade because it's not scanned in. I took 2 days off work to be home while it delivered and nothing. I have called customer service and spoke to supervisors all to be just told "sorry". AT&T is by far one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I have began my process of switching to Verizon. I would highly recommend NO ONE SIGN UP WITH AT&T. The company is full of crooks and no one will help you but will steal your money. It's asanine that the company can grossly mess up and the customer is the one to consume the financial burden of AT&T incompetence. If the item has been received then AT&T needs to release the account and quit stealing consumers money. A company that makes 240mil a year should, at minimum, afford competent employees and customer service.

Did you do a trade in? If you did. you should get a new phone regardless if AT&T getting your trade in or not. Your trade in phone will be applied as a credit on monthly bases. Are you saying that they are not giving you new phone until they get your old one? That would be weird.

The store didn't have it in stock so they had to order it. Then the carrier (AT&T) kept requesting the phone back to the warehouse while it was out for delivery and never made it to me. I still have the old phone. They said when they get around to scanning the package back in will reset my account so I can try to go to an actual AT&T store (that has them in stock) to get a new device

Did they give you a reason why they wanted the phone back?

Nope. I even tried to call UPS and speak with them and they said all they could see was that the carrier was requesting it back. It did this for 2 days. Meanwhile, they will not refund my payment either "until they scan the device back in". It's flat out THEFT. They would not even attempt to call their warehouse and request it be scanned or anything. Only thing they have said is to wait until "they get around to it". I called again today... still nothing... only told "I'm sure this is very frustrating" from the customer service representative.

Might I also add... I have not paid a late payment in 10+ years. AT&T gets their money or they will cut your services immediately but they can rob you blind and too bad for the consumer? Poor business practices.

AT&T is a horrible company. The customer service is one of the worst in the industry. I am a director of business development of a hospitality group, we are canceling all 9 business contracts with multiple services+ all our personal lines. It's unfortunate their incompency cost them 13 accounts.

File BBB complaint and someone from executive office will contact you.

There's not much point a better business bureau complaint. AT&T recalled the phone for whatever reason. It actually could have been damaged in shipping which means it's automatically returned to sender.

Once your upgrade status is restored, then you can check the online promotion to make sure you still want to purchase a new phone during the existing promotion.

And I will issue the standard warning, do not have your phone shipped. And do not ship your trade in.

You should be making your upgrade at a physical store and picking up your phone at a physical store, and you should be doing your trade-in at the same store and getting a receipt as proof so they cannot possibly say they didn't get the phone, and not give you credits
