Deceptive and horrible trade in promotions
I traded in a perfectly fine s9 under the trade in any year any condition promotion. I was content with paying 73 dollars a month for unlimited and I was never going to finance a phone or pay for the insurance again. But having to get some questions answered in the store I was told of this wonderful promotion. I was also added things to my account that I didn't want in stores which I didn't authorize. The person said that I'd get 800 credit for that Samsung S9 and that I would have 500 left in 3 years to pay and my bill wouldn't be more then 100. Well I've had some outrageous bills ranging from 170 to I think 130 is the average. Not cool. And about 2 months later I get a message that I'm only getting 6 dollars for my s9. I would have never signed up for this deal if I known any condition any year means something way different. I've spent about 20 hours on the phone or chatting with at&t. No one has the power to fix it cause it's like 4 different companies, in-store, on line, trade in and actual at&t. They won't fix it and Im Ready to throw the phone into the glass of the next at&t store. They won't willing take it back because it's 14 days past when I got it. This isn't the first headach I've had with at&t. I'm over it, any ideas of how to get out of this situation. I just don't want anything to do with this company ever again.

That s9 must have been in very bad condition. Even the “any Samsung, any condition” I believe required the trade in to meet a minimum value. Did your s9 still work? Anyway, your best chance to resolve is to escalate to corporate by filing an FCC or BBB complaint. The complaint will result in someone from corporate contacting you, they have a good track record in resolving trade in promotion issues.

My s9 worked perfectly and 2 separate stores checked it out and verified that it would work for the any year any condition trade in. I was content with the 73 dollar bill I had and a phone that works just as good as this newer one. The only reason why I went into the store was to figure out why I had to change plans and pay 6 dollars more each month. At that point they decided to give me insurance that I didn't ask for and put me on the next program. So my bill went up almost 20 dollars for no reason.

Did you file a Better Business Bureau complaint?
The only reason someone would get Book value, something as low as $9 is if they did not qualify for the promotion in some way. If one did not have a qualifying plan, or did not buy a qualifying phone. Or missed the 30 day trade window. Paid for the phone in full on day one or paid it off before credits started. Activated the phone on a different phone line on their account.
Or didn't purchase a qualifying phone for the phone that they were trading in. For example: Trading a really old android for a brand new iPhone 14 would not qualify for full credit. Trading in for a brand new Samsung would qualify.
Unlimited data is Quantified in the published offer as any plan with unlimited data with a base plan price of $75 or more before discounts. The current plans that are offered include starter plan which does qualify, and the Value Plus plan (single line only, $60 base price) which does not.

I am with the original poster. The ads are misleading and false, even showing a sad person with a broken phone not having a problem trading in for a new phone for free.
I just received notifications that 3 of my family members are entitled to a 'free' upgrade for $0. All 3 are in perfect working condition and undamaged but once you click through, they still want a minimum of $30/month. So I guess unless your phone is less than 6 months old you are out of luck. Very deceptive and false advertising even though the notification literally says 'Trade in your ___ for a free upgrade.' They list and know exactly what models we currently have and promise a free upgrade for those models but in the end, they don't offer that at all even though we have an unlimited plan and the phones they said we should trade in are in perfect working order.

Offers for full iPhone trade in value include devices that are 3 years old and in good condition. (iPhone 12 for iPhone 15)
The offers for Samsung include any old S-Class phone. All the way back to the OG. Several of the A-class mid priced phones.
No budget phones like low-cost a-class or j-class Samsung's.
I get it You're exaggerating because you're miffed. 😑
Or perhaps despite reading the offer, you don't understand the offer, It's requirements, or how any of these promotions work
