We'll be happy to help you get your Cell Booster up and running properly @Matense.

To troubleshoot your device, try these tips:

  • Check the status of your device in the mobile app or on the web in Device details.
  • Connect the GPS antenna to your Cell Booster and stick the GPS antenna on a window.
  • Power cycle your Cell Booster and make sure the device lights are solid white.
  • Disconnect your Cell Booster through the app or web and try online registration again.

If none of this works for you, you can find more tips to fix or reset your Cell Booster.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns; we'll be happy to assist further. Thank you for reaching out to our AT&T Community.

@Matense How do you have it setup?

My cell booster stopped working about a week ago (after working perfectly from initial setup till then - about a two month time span).  First it was giving me a solid orange Internet light that would not go away.  It would not get any further than that upon startup.  So I went into my router settings and enabled the MAC address of the Cell Booster and managed to get the Internet light to go white.  Now all 4 lights are white upon startup EXCEPT the 4G LTE light.  It will not get any further than this, in fact after about 5-10 minutes of trying all lights flash orange and it restarts the process.  I did fully disconnect it and tried to re-register it (and a second cell booster that AT&T sent me).  I cannot get either to register or get beyond the 4 white lights with no 4G LTE light.  They both exhibit the same behavior.  HELP!!    (thanks in advance)

@OttoPylot  is the microcell expert.   Most AT&T support people have no idea what it is, and certainly can't provide you with any information.

At the bottom of his posts in his signature line you will see two links in blue letters, AT&T "cellular booster" guide and a guide to a real cellular booster right below it.

Give the at&t guide a read through.

Just like with the old 3G microcell, the new MicroCell requires you have AT&T postpaid service to register the device.  There have been more faulty LTE microcells than with the former 3g devices.

If you have home internet and wifi routers, you should not need the microcell. You should be able to turn on Wi-Fi calling and use that. Wi-Fi calling is the replacement technology for MicroCell devices

@waycon80831  Please explain your setup. Did you perform an hard reset as detailed in my Tech Guide?

As far as de-registering/re-registering, it's always best if you de-register to wait a day or so to make sure the request goes thru the entire system. If not, and you re-register too quickly you may end up with conflicting requests which may "confuse" the system and nothing will happen.

As mentioned, WiFi-C (WiFi Calling) is really the preferred method for improving poor in-home coverage if your phone is capable of that. I found that during my testing of the MicroCell and Cell Booster for AT&T that WiFi-C was much more reliable than either of the femtocell technologies in the long run.

@OttoPylot thanks for the response.  I have my cell booster connected to my router via a 12-port (I think) unmanaged switch.  Copy on the de-registering and re-registering, I will give a day or two to let it complete that process.  My Cell Booster app tells me it is registered, but still has the orange icon next to it (indicating it isn't fully functional I think).  Also, when I go to the status page it does not give the individual lights status - it is just blank.  Also copy on the WiFi-C, I have set that up on all phones now and will see how that works.  Appreciate the help and feedback.

@waycon80831  The unmanaged switch shouldn't be an issue. When I setup my Cell Booster every few months or so to keep my account active and for any updates I connect it to a wired mesh satellite which is connected to an unmanaged switch. Works fine.

Make sure the minimum router requirements are still being met as well as the other setup requirements. I'd also check the ac adapter with a voltmeter with no load applied.

Any chance you can elaborate on the "minimum router requirements" and other setup requirements?  If the answer is "it depends on your router" that's all good.  I have an Xfinity Gateway router - the newest one, FYI.    Thanks  -

@waycon80831  The minimum router requirements are given in my Tech Guide. I too have Xfinity but I refuse to use their equipment so I use my own modem and router. The Xfinity gateway should be fine as is but it never hurts to check especially if it recently received an update just to make sure that the update didn't change anything.

If you haven't made any changes to your setup, including the Cell Booster position, from when you originally set it up and registered it, then I'd look to the Cell Booster and perform the hard reset and check the ac adapter with a voltmeter. When I take mine out of storage for its quarterly or so setting up, it takes about 10 minutes from connecting mine to the ethernet port on the mesh satellite to being up, running, and functional.

Thanks - appreciate it very much.  This all started with a perfectly working Cell Booster going down for no reason at all.  Just started giving me a solid orange internet light.  I will check the voltage and fiddle around a bit more.  If not I will be asking for a refund and just stick with the wifi calling.
